Together We're Fighting Cuts to Medicare, Medicaid & Social Security
A big "Thanks" to the hundreds of you who marched against cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security last month. Whether or not you were able to be there, you must watch this inspiring video of the human chain we created that day, in this video put together by the California Alliance for Retired Americans (CARA) and Community Living Campaign. Check out the pictures from the event, too, and tag anyone you knowl
In Washington D.C., they were still talking about cuts to these critically important programs. Your elected representatives are back home in August. Contact them to strengthen, not cut, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. For more information call CARA at 510-663-4086. See important facts about Medicare and Social Security here.

We Raised Money - and Awareness about Aging with HIV/AIDS
Thanks to our awesome team of CLC walkers, we raised $1,240 - and we raised awareness - as part of the AIDS Walk 2013! The number of seniors diagnosed with HIV is on the rise. And many early AIDS patients have benefited from improvements in diagnosis and treatment and are now aging with HIV and AIDS. Learn more about HIV/AIDS among seniors in San Francisco. We are looking to double the number of CLC Team Walkers for next year; if you are interested, email us at info@sfcommunityliving.org.

Birthdays - A Great Time to Celebrate Those that Engage and Inspire Us
Community Connector Deloris McGee gathered friends of Annye Roberson for a surprise party to celebrate her birthday. Many of our Community Connectors help develop personal support networks for individuals in their community. Annye (pictured with Ned Reese at left) loved the surprise, and friends and supporters enjoyed the party. Proceeds benefitted Old Skool Cafe, a unique youth-run Supper Club in the Bayview and wonderful neighborhood-based program offering job and leadership opportunities for at-risk youth. |
Your Invitation is in the Mail!
