Making Friends, Helping Building Community, Having Fun
What were CLC Community Connectors up to in May? Organizing fun activities with feathers and scarves at Bethany Center (below), a birthday party for Mary at Laguna Honda (top right), massages at St. Francis Square provided by BACE Timebank volunteers (middle right), and the Fair Oaks Street Fair (bottom). These are just a few examples of the ways that CLC Community Connectors are their magic across the City.

OMI Fog Walkers Celebrate 1st Anniversary - from Deloris McGee
The OMI Fog Walkers celebrated one year of walking in their community in May. The walkers head out each Wednesday for one hour starting at 11:00 a.m. from Minnie and Lovie Ward Recreation Center. This has been a fun year for the walkers, who say "thanks" to the Community Living Campaign and Minnie and Lovie Ward Recreation Center. These folks got a chance to learn a lot about the community by walking their neighborhood instead of driving. Can you imagine living in a neighborhood for over 40 years and never visiting your neighborhood park. Yes, some of us lost weight, some ... Read more

Cayuga Connectors Span the Generations - from Glenda Hope
On April 28th, the Cayuga Community Connector led an inter-generational gathering for what was to have been a little over an hour of playing board games. The players (neighbors) ranged in age from 7 to 77 and stayed for almost 3 hours! This is a great way for people to meet each other in a relaxed way. People exchanged contact information with each other.
A neighborhood teen was recruited to provide children's activities, but the children preferred playing games along with the adults. The next gathering in this new CLC sponsored community is set for June 2nd.

"Keep Us Connected" Supporters Move Into Action
Those who have benefitted from SF Connected Program made the rounds of Supervisors' office and community hearings to fight for continued funding when the federal BTOP grant ends in September. With the Mayor's support, there is a good chance this program will continue to provide computer access, training, and support at accessible sites across the City. Thanks to all who have participated to date. But we have a few more things on our agenda - to increase the number of paid and stipended positions for seniors and people with disabilities to be computer lab trainers and coordinators and to create a "tech council" to better link BTOP sites with other community resources. Next Call To Action? Help with the postcard campaign and show up on
Friday, June 21 starting at 10:00 a.m. at the final Board of Supervisors hearing to testify and show your support at City Hall, Board of Supervisors Chambers. A flyer with more details about what's next can be downloaded here.
