Organizing Workshop Helps Expand "Keep Us Connected" Campaign
Jodi Reid, Director of the California Alliance for Retired Americans (CARA) helped us planm details of our campaign to continue and expand computer access, training and support. It was an engaging day that included brainstorming how we might impress policy-makers with its importance.  Watch for more information about meet and greet events in computer labs in the Supervisors and the Mayor.

You can follow the campaign through our Facebook page or by downloading material from www.sfhealthyaging.org.

The networking and learning will continue over the next 3 months with participant designed sessions and discussions on health care, aging in place, safety, legal rights and protections for LGBT seniors and persons with disabilties and housing. Presenters and participants alike shared in the learning exchange. Featured below (shown clockwise) are Marcia Peterzell and Linda Silver, CLC; Sara Taylor, Attorney; Fairly Parson of Openhouse; Lenny Reiter of CLC and Donna Willmott of Senior and Disabilty Action. Cayuga Neighborhood Connections Growing
Ever heard of the Cayuga neighborhood?  It is a lovely community nestled between Highway 280 and Mission Street, in the south part of the City.   Like many other communities, older residents and helpful neighbors are looking for ways to help and to support one another to age in community.   With the help of Glenda Hope (pictured bottomed right in red) to get things going, neighbors have started meeting, exchanging services and assistance.  In March, they hosted a meeting to learn about social media, Skype and crowdsource funding with the help of CLC computer trainer, Bethany Schwarz (pictured left), where they enjoyed an impromptu demonstration of Skype.   If you live in the Cayuga neighborhood and want to get connected, give us a call at (415) 821-1003.   The group's motto:  "Changing strangers into neighbors, and neighbors into friends."
