Finance Report
We are doing our best to control expenses, even in light of a few unforeseen facilities maintenance and medical insurance expenses. Unfortunately, our revenues for the year are further off track than we had planned. Year-to-date 2013 revenues are 6.7% lower than expected and almost 2% lower than they were last year at this time. This shortfall is mainly due to lower weekly plate collections. We want to thank each and every one of our many generous donors. If you are not currently a donor, we urge you to begin making contributions to support the many programs available here at St. Perpetua. For those of you who are occasional contributors, we encourage you to consider a more consistent donation method - like our popular e-giving program (sign up here). And for those who are regular contributors, please reflect on whether you can provide just a bit more every week or month.

Again, thank you for your continued support. We appreciate all your help and hope your generosity will help us to continue to build a strong community of faith. A detailed finance report is available on our website.

Advent Resources
November 30/December 1 marks the beginning of Advent. From the Latin term used in a secular context to denote the coming or arrival of the emperor, this four-week liturgical season inaugurates the entire liturgical year. Advent has a twofold character: as a season to prepare us for Christmas when Christ's first coming to us is remembered and as a season when that remembrance directs the mind and heart to await Christ's Second Coming at the end of time. Advent is thus a period for devout and joyful expectation.

Here are some excellent resources for this wonderful season:

Additional Advent reflection material for adults, families and children is available in the vestibule. Hopefully these resources provide you with spiritual nourishment during this time of anticipation and waiting for the coming of the Prince of Peace.

Vatican Survey on Marriage

The US Bishops are asking as many people as possible to respond to the Vatican survey on marriage and family life to help prepare for an October 2014 meeting in Rome of the Synod of Bishops on the topic
Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of Evangelization.
The questionnaire seeks input from clergy, religious and laity to help define the state of marriage and family life. The survey also asks for statistical data and for a comparison of the Church's teaching with the practice in the local culture.

The Church really wants to know your opinion. Please take the survey before December 13 here. See Diocesan website for more info and resources.

Advent by Candlelight

Advent by Candlelight: An evening of Friendship, Faith and Festivity for Women

This year our Advent evening will feature Danielle Piccinini who will lead us in prayer, advent reflection and lighting of the Advent wreath. Danielle, age 26, will share her story based on the Advent themes of hope, peace, joy and love as she shares stories from her three years of service as a Peace Corp volunteer in Niger and South Africa. We hope you will join us and celebrate with women of all ages in our community.

If you would like more information on hosting a table or make a reservation to attend please contact Kristine Kvochak or 283-0272#204.

 School News

Students at St. Perpetua School gathered various food items to create Thanksgiving meals for 30 families this holiday season. Seventh grade students assembled the meals and delivered the baskets to the Monument Crisis Center for distribution.

Taste of Kindergarten

This is a very special event that St. Perpetua offers our community several times a year.  For the 2013-2014 school year, we will be offering it on December 13, January 14, and April 11.

Incoming kindergarten age children and their parent(s) are invited to get a taste of kindergarten for a morning!  Enjoy a casual conversation with school administrators and staff, discussing our kindergarten program and common topics including kindergarten readiness, emotional maturity, creating smooth transitions and more. Parents will then accompany their children into the St. Perpetua School kindergarten classroom, under the supervision of our teaching staff, to experience a short lesson and project. You are invited to visit Cafe St. Perpetua and enjoy fresh baked goods, made from our local garden ingredients, and freshly brewed coffee. School tour provided and parents are given time to socialize. Parents must remain on campus during this special event. You will need to register for this event! Please do so here.

Questions?  Please call the school office (925) 284.1640 or email Natalie Deininger, school Development Director.
