Annual Bishop's Appeal - 2013
We're almost there!!!!
|
Good News! St. Perpetua Parish is at 77% of our assigned goal for the Annual Diocese of Oakland Bishop's Appeal. Our parish goal is set at $36,545. Thus far the Appeal has received
$28,041 in pledges from133 of our parish households. With less than $9,000 to make our goal, I am asking each parish household to make a pledge, no matter how large or small. Every gift is appreciated and will serve to support the many ministries and good works of the wider Church in our area. Any money above our goal comes back to the parish for our own needs. With a parish registration of 1,375 households, we should easily be able to surpass our goal. If 100 more individuals or families each pledged even $100 we would hit the mark. Please respond generously to Archbishop Brunett's earnest appeal and support the efforts of our Diocese of which we are an important part. You can find out more about the Appeal and make your pledge online at the Diocesan website.
Thank you for your support,
Father John

Knights of Columbus
Sponsor Easter Egg Hunt
|
Cloudy skies and a soggy lawn didn't dampen the holiday spirits that marked the celebration of Easter at St. Perpetua Parish. Saturday rain made the grass behind the school amphitheater too wet for the Easter egg hunt and games, so Plan B went into effect, which was to bring everything under cover.
Undaunted by the change in plan, after the 9:30 a.m. Easter Mass, parishioners made their way to the school where they joined in fellowship for coffee, donuts, bagels and juice. Children received bags of candy-filled Easter eggs. The Easter Bunny was also available for visits and pictures to remember the day. In a little more than an hour, 90 instant photos of children and families were given away.
While many Knights and their families participated in making the morning activities a success, particular acknowledgement is due to Pat Hennessy who chaired the event, and to Brian Mosel who made possible the visit from the Easter Bunny.

St. Patrick's Day Dinner
| A capacity crowd at St. Perpetua enjoyed a delicious Corned Beef Dinner sponsored by the Knights of Columbus for St. Patrick's Day. The Knights' $5,000 donation to the School Tuition Assistance Fund was accepted by staff member Kathy Geddes. The Knights also donated $1,000 to the Church Building Fund, which was accepted by Christoph Nauer. Before dinner entertainment was provided by 5 talented Irish Dancers. The Hall looked great as decorated, the food and service were impeccable. Kitchen duties were again masterfully managed by Brother Bob Mosel, who came down from his home in the mountains, and ably assisted by his faithful crew. It would be a very long list to name everyone who helped during the evening, but suffice to say that all worked together as a team to make this another very successful event! |
