APA Award

The American Planning Association (APA) today announced the designation of Main Street as one of 10 Great Streets for 2012 under the organization's Great Places in America program. APA Great Places exemplify exceptional character and highlight the role planning and planners play in adding value to communities, including fostering economic growth and jobs.  Through Great Places in America, APA recognizes streets, neighborhoods, and public spaces featuring unique and authentic characteristics that have evolved from years of thoughtful and deliberate planning by residents, community leaders and planners.  APA singled out Bozeman's Main Street, between Third and Broadway Avenues, for its frontier-town charm, concentration of late 19- and early 20th-century buildings, adaptive reuse of historic structures, and diversity of uses.  Read More.

Thanks for Keeping Downtown Beautiful

As the seasons change so does the focus of the Downtown Business Improvement District.  The BID staff undertake a wide variety of tasks to keep downtown beautiful regardless of the weather.  This time of year, the BID staff puts away the flower watering equipment, dusts off the snow shovels, and prepares for the holiday season. Jamie Bartley became interested in the human body at a young age and after studying the sciences at Oklahoma City University, she realized she wanted to continue her studies in the human body but in a more obscure field; rolfing.  According to Jamie, rolfing is a form of bodywork aimed at "reforming the body to find it's natural balance through deep-tissue work...focusing on the connective tissue of the body...to help put itself back into placement"  So, she headed to the Rolfing Institute in Boulder, Co where she received her certification and headed back to Oklahoma City where she began a successful rolfing business in 2000.
