| New Life UMC volunteers stock the shelves of the church's Paper Angel closet |
Thanks to a $1,200 Creative Ministries Grant from the NIC Program Council, New Life UMC in Machesney Park continues to grow it's Paper Angel Ministry which started as a small in-house mission to a multi-county outreach project. The onsite Paper Angel closet has helped nearly 90 individuals this year receive much-needed paper products and toiletries such as; paper towels, shampoo, bar soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste. The One Body Collaboratives non-profit organization helps to connect the church with families who need the extra support. New Life also partners with the Regional Office of Education for Winnebago and Boone Counties to reach out to homeless students and provide them with essential products. As of 2014, the Office of Education identified more than 2,600 students (K-12th grade) as homeless in the area. To find out how you can help go to www.findnewlifeumc.org. Check out the full story...
Thanks to your apportionment dollars 17 ministries in the Northern Illinois Conference received Creative Ministries Grants from the Program Council totaling close to $20,000.
