Help support Rosecrance Lakeview

Rosecrance is proposing to open a treatment center in the Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood for young adults struggling with substance abuse and to give them the opportunity to heal, mature and become grounded in recovery as they progress toward a successful and drug-free future.

Rosecrance is encouraging supporters to come to a Zoning Hearing at Chicago City Hall, 121 N. LaSalle - 2nd Floor, Friday morning, October 16.

Some residents have started a petition against the center so they need the extra support.  Bishop Sally Dyck wrote a letter of to 44th Ward Alderman Tom Tunney saying,
"No organization is more qualified to meet the challenge and provide healing and health (not to mention, hope) to individuals and their families."

The time of the hearing is subject to change so please keep checking their Facebook page for updates.
Also, you can let them know if you will be attending and willing to briefly speak by emailing:
Also check out Rosecrance's website for facts and much more information.

Transformative Difference:
Apportionment dollars at work
25 - 30 youth and adults from the community came out for an "open mic" poetry slam at Greenstone UMC this summer including this young writer who shared some of her poems.
Thanks to a $1,000 Creative Ministries Grant from the NIC Program Council, Greenstone United Methodist Church reached out to many youth in the community through several outreach programs this summer including a Poetry Slam, Martial Arts Program, Vacation Bible School and a Back to School Event.

Their next event is "Happy Harvest" on Oct. 31 to substitute Halloween celebrations. "We're looking forward to again engaging with the youth, the community and giving witness to the truth that Jesus is Lord, and He is a part of our everyday activities, even when we're having good clean fun−in church," said Minnell Bond who works with Christian Education at Greenstone UMC. Read more.

Thanks to your apportionment dollars 17 ministries in the Northern Illinois Conference received Creative Ministries Grants from the Program Council totaling close to $20,000. Read more.

In the coming weeks leading up to the Nov. 7 Special Session, we will highlight and celebrate our apportionment dollars at work in this weekly eNews. They will also be posted on our website. Click here to read more how our gifts are transforming lives.
