Transformative Difference:
Apportionment dollars at work
Campus Pastor Rich Havard and students meet every Wednesday in the Student center to talk, explore the Bible and pray.
A New + Inclusive Ministry is starting this fall at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Formerly Agape House, Campus Pastor Rich Havard, who recently completed a Residency at Urban Village Church, is helping relaunch this vital campus  ministry. Read more how joining the ministry was the turning point in one student's faith journey.

Your apportionment dollars support Campus and Higher Education ministries in the NIC including campus ministries at UIC, North Central College, University of Chicago, Northern Illinois University and Northwestern University.

In the coming weeks leading up to the Nov. 7 Special Session, we will highlight and celebrate our apportionment dollars at work in this weekly eNews. They will also be posted on our website. Click here to read more how our gifts are transforming lives.
NIC Delegation Endorses Rev. Dr. Tracy Smith Malone as Episcopal Nominee
Rev. Dr. Tracy Smith Malone
Members of the NIC General/Jurisdictional Delegation unanimously endorsed the Rev. Dr. Tracy Smith Malone as their episcopal nominee at their Sept. 27 meeting.

Rev. Malone serves as the Chicago Southern District Superintendent. She has served churches as an associate and senior pastor and has been a member of the board of directors for the General Board of Church and Society. She was the chair of the 2012 delegation to General and Jurisdictional Conferences and is currently the Dean of the NIC Cabinet. She has received the Distinguished Leadership Award by the Chicago Black Methodists for Church Renewal and was the recipient of North Central College's 2013 Outstanding Alumna Award.

"I'm honored by this endorsement and grateful for the delegation's trust and confidence in my leadership," said Rev. Malone.

"She is a deserving candidate for Bishop and we look forward to voting for her next July," the delegation said. The Jurisdictional Conference will be held in Peoria, Ill., July 13-16, 2016.

Registration is still open for clergy to this conversation about biblical authority in light of human sexuality on Oct. 5, 9am-3pm at First UMC Arlington Heights. Dr. Cheryl Anderson, professor at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, will teach and lead us in discussion about what biblical authority is. Last year our gathering of clergy focused on our shared ministry in pastoral care, specifically around same-gender marriage, but this day will challenge as well as enlighten us on biblical understanding and interpretation. Registration: $20 (to cover lunch, event expenses and speaker) Click here to register.
