Prayer for Refugee-Migration Crisis
| |
|
Please pray for the thousands of people that have journeyed across the waters to find peace, safety and refuge. Photo: Kathleen Barry
| Recent news report that more than 16,000 migrants have streamed into Austria since the weekend and more than 17,500 people were received in Munich, Germany, alone. According to the United Nations Refugee Agency estimates, more than 366,000 refugees and migrants have crossed the Mediterranean Sea to Europe this year and at least 2,800 have died or disappeared during the journey.
The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) offers a prayer of action and solidarity for those fleeing conflict and migrating to Europe and other parts of the world. Click here to read more.

Bishop Sally Dyck also calls all of us to be praying for the refugees especially the children.
"The picture of the small child, dead on the shore on a Turkey beach, a refugee from Syria, has captured our imaginations in a way that all the numbers of the dead and migrating have not. We become immune to the masses but touched by the single child. Let that child lead us to prayer for them all." Read Bishop Dyck's full prayer.
How you can help
Did you know that because of the apportionments we pay to The United Methodist Church we are able to provide relief to some of these refugees? It is wonderful to know that in the midst of this overwhelming tragedy your church is at work. This work is happening in countries involved through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) and its partner agencies which are at work wherever a humanitarian crisis strikes. To read more on how The United Methodist Church is responding and the many ways you can help or donate click here.
