Annual Conference Updates

 

June 14-16, 2015 

On-Site/Late Registration fees will apply to any registrations postmarked later than May 29. The cost for on-site registration is $125. (Group meal tickets are no longer available.)

  • Petition form available to download here or go online. This form is to lift items off the consent calendar. Forms due by Sunday, June 14 at 2pm. If you missed the Webinar, click here for the a recording of the noon session. Click here for a recording of the 7pm session.

  • General & Jurisdictional Panel Discussion, Mon., June 15, at the close of plenary approximately 8:30pm.

    Appetizers, Desserts, and Pop provided by the Council
  • Laity Session - With the focus on the younger generation, youth and young adults are invited to attend, Sunday, June 14 between 6-8pm.

Rev. Oscar Carrasco Retirement Celebration - This Sunday, June 7

The Elgin District Superintendency committee invites you to come celebrate Elgin District Superintendent Rev. Carrasco's retirement and his 37 years of faithful ministry on June 7. The celebrations will begin at 3pm at First UMC Crystal Lake, 236 W. Crystal Lake Ave. with a formal reognition followed by an informal gathering time. Click here for details.

On the occasion of his retirement,  Rev. Carrasco requests that any monies collected as a love gift be designated to the Iglesia Metodista de Curacautin in Chili for the completion of a small hall dedicated in honor of his mother. The room, walls and partitions are in place but there is much yet to be done.
Safe Haven Kick-Off
For the second year, several United Methodist churches are teaming up with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) to provide safe havens for school children during the summer vacation.

Rev. Adonna Davis Reid (South Shore UMC) spoke at the kick-off press conference on June 2. G2G, Elston Avenue, Maple Park and Faith United Methodist Churches are also participating. Click below to hear how this program is making an impact on the lives of CPS children.

Powwow - June 6 & 7
You're invited to the American Indian Center's 62nd Annual Chicago Powwow at Busse Woods Forest Preserve in Elk Grove Village. Activities include intertribal dancing, an art marketplace, Native food, archery and cultural presentations. Parking is free. Admission for Adults is $15 and $10 for a children, seniors and military (Children under 5 - free admission). Gates open at 10am. Click here for a flyer and more info.


Seminar program offers `In Focus' introductory events
Deadlines are approaching for "In Focus" introductory events for youth groups and young-adult leaders of ethnic minority local churches and campus ministries on the United Methodist Seminars on National and International Affairs. The deadline for the June 24-26 "In Focus" is June 5; deadline for the July 7-9 "In Focus" is June 26. Learn more...
