Learning Spanish as Church Hospitality
Check it out! Who Is My Neighbor? Teacher Manual is now available to pre-order through Abingdon Press. The six-session resource was developed out of the NIC's Spanish as a Second Language program. It was written by Joyce Carrasco, Ruth Hoffman and Ngoc-Diep Nguyen.
It covers basic conversational Spanish, and simple and easy to follow Spanish-language worship material. The program encourages openness toward Spanish-speaking neighbors, understanding of different cultures, and compassion for those who struggle to learn English.

Acts of Repentance next listening session
Come to the Listening Session March 28 at Starved Rock Lodge
As a part of the Acts of Repentance with Native Americans in the Northern Illinois Conference, our Conference has been hosting listening sessions to hear, learn, and be changed.
Before the 2012 General Conference, listening sessions formed the guide for how The United Methodist Church would respond with indigenous communities throughout the globe. The Northern Illinois Conference is following that model, holding listening sessions throughout our Conference that will give the template for how we may proceed towards continued change and healing. The sessions are about listening and engaging in a conversation with all who attend.
The Saturday, March 28, listening session will be from 10am-12:30pm in the LaSalle Room at Starved Rock Lodge in Utica, IL. Your participation means so much. Let's all come together and listen. Click here for the flyer.
Native American Ministries Sunday - April 19
The offering received on Native American Ministries Sunday goes toward many partnerships and programs in the Native American community. Funds also go toward college scholarships for Native American students, support of tribal language classes, powwows, and other community programs such as Family Camp for Native families. "This year's Native American Special Sunday offering is all the more important as we continue our work in the future. 50% remains here in our annual conference and that amount will help us continue to take steps in the Acts of Repentance and reconciliation," said Bishop Sally Dyck. Go to www.umcgiving.org/nams for a pastor's toolkit and other resources.

After a category 5 cyclone tore through the island nation of Vanuatu over the weekend, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) has been in touch with Global Ministries missionaries and church partners in the region to assess damages and needs. At its peak, Cyclone Pam packed winds of up to 165 miles per hour, devastating effects of which were felt particularly on the islands of Ermango, Tanna and Efate. Please keep the people of Vanuatu and the other impacted island nations of the region in your prayers. You can also help by giving to UMCOR International Disaster Response, Advance #982450.
