GCFA new webpage To improve the easy accessibility to our resources, GCFA, effective August 18, now hosts its new redesigned website within the official website of The United Methodist Church: www.umc.org. At the new address, www.umc.org/gcfa, you will find the same resources previously found at www.gfa.org.
Hosted by United Methodist Communications as a shared service, GCFA's new websites will make the agency's resources and materials more easily available to more of the United Methodists who need them.

Acts of Repentance - Sept. 20

In response to the call to the larger Church to be in community with native peoples around the globe, our Northern Illinois Annual Conference will begin a process of change and growth called "Acts of Repentance."
The goals for this process are for individuals and congregations to listen, learn, repent, and act.
On Sept. 20 at Community UMC, 20 N. Center St., Naperville, we'll begin the process by learning where Native Americans have been and continue to be present, including the challenges many Native Americans face each day.
We'll hear from:
- Bishop Sally Dyck, resident Bishop of the NIC
- Rev. Glen Chebon Kernell, Executive Secretary of Native American, Indigenous Ministries, Justice & Relationships
- Panel of presenters from the American Indian Center, Midwest Soarring, and the UMC will conduct a short listening session
- Special keynote by Laura Grizzlypaws
Attendees are invited to register online. The event is from 8:30am-11:30am.

Healing Communities Training - Sept. 27
 Healing Communities is a framework for ministry to persons returning from or at risk of incarceration, their families, and the larger community. It challenges congregations through mobilization of its existing resources to become "Stations of Hope" for persons affected by the criminal justice system.

NIC Invited to CCL Anniversary celebration

 The Center for Changing Lives (formerly known as Humboldt Park Social Services) would like to invite all the Churches of the Northern Illinois Conference to its 25th Anniversary Gala on September 6 at 6:30pm at the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago.

Safe Sanctuaries Training - Sept. 6
A Conference-wide training in Safe Sanctuaries policies and prodcedures will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Grace UMC - Naperville from 9:30 am - 12 pm. Sign up for the next Early Response Team training September 27 from 9am-5pm at the First United Methodist Church of LaGrange. This training will qualify individuals in our area to join together as an Early Response Teams (ERT). ERT's are trained to provide immediate and quick response after disasters, sharing the love of Christ by taking steps to prevent further damage to property and helping survivors begin to heal. This is a great outreach opportunity! You do not need to be UMC to be an ERT! The cost of the training is $40. UM Foundation Accepting Grant ApplicationsThe United Methodist Foundation is accepting applications for its 2014/15 annual grants cycle. Grants of $500 - $3,000 will help launch and support ministries throughout our conference. Deadline for applications is September 15.
