Imagine No Malaria -
Churches reach out to the community this summer

Calvary UMC in Villa Park hosted a community Yard Sale on June 14 and used the event to raise money for Imagine No Malaria. Members of the community were invited to purchase spaces to sell their treasures. CUMC had a couple of tables and also sold food.

They raised $750 towards their pledge to the INM campaign!

They also invited folks to their monthly community meal on Thursday, June 19 and invited Jay Jayapalan to make an INM presentation which was well-received.
If your church is planning a summer event, let us know. Please contact [email protected].

Imagine No Malaria's national website has a new look. Check it out...www.imaginenomalaria.org.

Child Poverty Campaign Launches at Annual Conference

In alignment with the mission of the NIC Conference to foster vital congregations and changed communities, the NIC Board of Church and Society in partnership with United Voices for Children has launched a two year Child Poverty Campaign.

Each local congregation is encouraged to participate in this campaign by accepting a local congregational challenge. Designate a child advocate, lift up the concerns of children as they relate to 1) health and nutrition, 2) education, and 3) freedom from violence, and educate your congregation and local community about the complex issues surrounding child poverty.

For further information about the campaign and the congregational resources available and/or register as a Child Advocate visit www.umcnic.org/churchandsociety.
Capturing our History

In recognition of our 175th Annual Conference, the Committee on Archives and History is launching a wiki site that will be dedicated to collecting the basic information and history of our churches, past and present.

We need your help with this initial step. Please provide us with some basic information and history on your congregation by filling out the requested information online by clicking here. If you cannot answer all the questions or do not have a photograph, simply provide us with what you have. For more information contact Keck Mowry at [email protected]
