Walking to Save Lives

Rev. Kwang Sung Lim
The Rev. Kwang Sung Lim, North Prairie UMC - Winthrop Harbor, is putting legs to his prayers by walking the 26 miles around Lake Geneva to raise money for Imagine No Malaria.

Rev. Lim has done this marathon walk for the last 5 years for Lent and Advent reflection. He says that for him it is an easy walk, and can be accomplished in about 8-10 hours. The congregation has rallied around this cause and some  are considering walking with him this year.  Individuals are being asked to pledge $1 a mile toward Imagine No Malaria.

$26 could provide the cost of food and treatment of anemia in a pregnant woman with malaria, or pay for 13 rapid test kits, or cover the medicine for 5 people with malaria. These donations will go a long way in the fight to saves lives.

The walk will take place on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. To donate or pledge to Rev. Lim's walk please contact Sue Melvin - North Prairie UMC at npwhumc@att.net
