Malaria, is very common in the place that I was born. I had it many times when I was growing up. I have seen many suffer and also die because of this disease.
When I was born I was a weak baby. I tended to get sick a lot and often it was from malaria.
Malaria was hard for doctors to treat and control. Sometimes it turned into Typhoid. When you get malaria you start losing weight, hair and energy. I was one month old and I was sick, and I was not getting better. It was hard to treat me because of the limited resources and medications. Doctors informed my family that I was going to die soon.
On that night, my father took me in his arms, with bended knees he prayed to God. He asked God to take me soon so that they would not suffer much when I died. He said that he couldn't see the suffering his child any longer. The next day I was doing better. Doctors were amazed how I was responding to the limited treatment. I was saved!
Today when that Doctor sees me, he says, "you are a miracle." It is wonderful to hear those words.
Every day in Africa 1,400 children under the age of 5 die of malaria. Those children's parents are awaiting a miracle.
Prayers bring God's miracle. We have to fuel the prayers with our offerings to Imagine No Malaria so that many can say "YOU ARE A MIRACLE".
Please get involved with this amazing ministry during the season of Lent by setting a church pledge, individual donation, praying and learning more at www.umcnic.org/imaginenomalaria.
