Website Issues?
After providing free web hosting to churches for more than 12 years, the General Board of Global Ministries, ended this service on Sept. 30, 2013.
GBGM said it could no longer support the current website needs of many churches. They've partnered with United Methodist Communications (UMCOM) to offer a new website-management solution.
On July 1, UMCOM officially launched it's web-hosting services which is built on WordPress and include various affordable plans.

Sower's Field Notes Wins 1st place Award
The Northern Illinois Conference Communications department and the Harvest 2020 campaign received recognition for its work on the Sower's Field Notes newsletter at
the United Methodist Association of Communicators annual awards banquet on Oct. 26 in Chicago at the Palmer House.
The Harvest 2020 March 2013 newsletter won first place in the print
category. The judges said the issue was a "nice, clean design" and they appreciated

Reynoldswood Needs Volunteers
Reynoldswood Christian Camp needs help to complete fall projects before the first snowflake falls.
If your mission group, youth group, or men's/women's groups needs a work project, we have several available, from installing our eastern border fence, cleaning up wood, painting bedrooms in Manor House, etc. Please prayerfully consider helping us out, as a group or interested individuals.

This is your final opportunity to join a select group of pastors and lay persons who will train together for starting new churches and ministries in a Hispanic/Latino setting that are reaching religious "nones."

 PAUMCS Fall Retreat Nov. 8 & 9
We Are Neighbors The NIC Chapter of PAUMCS is packing more into their Fall Workshop this year by offering an overnight Fall Retreat for all church secretaries and support staff on Nov. 8 & 9 at the Bishop Lane Retreat Center in Rockford. The extended schedule will allow a full development of session topics, ranging from worship & ministry (Being a Neighbor, Taize, communion) to professional development & practical tools (From Paper to the Cloud; Office Egronomics; Forms, Forms... and more Forms!) to personal growth (Head, Heart & Soul; making friends with colleagues, new & old!) You will come away resourced from this learning, sharing, and networking experience with renewed energy, fresh perspectives and a readiness for this unique ministry we share in the church office! The cost is $125, which covers all meals & lodging for the two days as well as session presenters & resources.

Affordable Health Care
The Campaign for Better Health Care (CBHC) has 5 state-trained ACA Navigators available to visit your congregation or community for educational presentations and one-to-one counseling sessions.
In a 30-60 minute presentation, our Navigators can cover eligibility, benefits, costs, and the process for signing up, with a Question & Answer session. Following that, Navigators can assist attendees in starting the enrollment process with individuals and small business owners (including church administrators) for the rest of the event, or return at a later date for additional assistance.

Missionary Visit
Missionary David Makobo N'shikala from the Democratic Republic of Congo will be itinerating in our Conference on October 27-November 9. Mr. Makobo is a missionary of the General Board of Global Ministries who will be serving in Senegal. Mr. Makobo is currently the Dean of the Agricultural School at Katanga Methodist University.
His responsibilities will include; working with farmers to grow food in poor soil with the use of modern technology for food production, working with church leadership through the implementation and use of modern agriculture tools and methods as well as working with VIM teams.
