United Methodist Communicators Annual meeting in Chicago Oct. 25-27 Register today!
The annual meeting of the United Methodist Association of Communicators is in Chicago this year from Oct. 25-27 at the Palmer House.
All local church communicators are encouraged to attend. This is a great opportunity for anyone who works on church communications!

Helping our neighbors in Colorado
Prayers and funds needed after devastating floods
The Yellowstone Annual Conference is asking for prayers and money for their neighbors in Colorado. "We're in the emergency phase right now and then we will be moving into the response phase in the next few weeks," said the Rev. Nancy Boswell, disaster relief coordinator for the Peaks and Plains District, Rocky Mountain Annual Conference. "That's when we'll gather people into work teams to clean up and then get people back on their feet."
People are specifically being asked to NOT voluntarily show up or send unsolicited donations of materials. Read more....

Upcoming Healthy Discipleship Systems Weekend

The Office of Congregational Development and Redevelopment invites ALL pastors, church staff, lay persons, and other interested parties to this two-day training. Pastor Junius Dotson (Saint Mark UMC, Wichita, KS) will lead seminars in developing healthy discipleship systems for vital Christians in vital churches.

No Guns in Places of Worship
 Under the new concealed-carry law in Illinois, churches are not listed as exempt and people will be able to carry guns into places of worship. Join the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence along with thousands of faith leaders and supporters to demand the Illinois General Assembly prohibit the carrying of concealed weapons in place of worship.  Hispanic Heritage Month
National Hispanic Heritage Month, observed in the United States from September 15 - October 15, celebrates the culture and traditions of Hispanic Americans. The observance begins in mid-September because the 15th is the anniversary of independence of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua; the 16th for Mexico; and the 18th for Chile.
