Marseilles needs help

Nearly three months after the Illinois river breached the levee and gushed into the streets of Marseilles, Ill causing widespread flooding and damage, residents are still trying to piece back their lives.

The raging water flooded 200 homes in this small town 75 miles southwest of Chicago on April 18. Many of these houses still need repairs and cleanup, while a dozen will likely need to be torn down.

Pastor Carolyn Lukasick of Maseilles UMC, heads the community's long-term recovery committee and is calling on volunteers to come in and help residents rebuild. Click here to read more.

Summer Summit on Stewardship with Rev. Mike Slaughter -2 weeks away

"I encourage every clergy to bring several people from your local church to hear Rev. Mike Slaughter on July 20. Marcy-Newberry says goodbye

Many people are expressing sadness after Marcy-Newberry Association closed its doors and ended all programs on June 28.

Marcy-Newberry provided nearly 130 years of crucial social services to the Chicago Near West, North Lawndale and Austin communities. Many churches in the Northern Illinois Conference volunteered and supported the organization over the years. Read more...

Celebrating Centennial of Filipino-Methodists in the U.S.

Anchored with the theme, "Cherishing the Past, Celebrating the Future," a worship service celebrating 100 years of Filipino-Methodists in the United States was held at this year's annual conference on June 6.

Bishop Rodolfo A. Juan of the Manila Episcopal Area in the Philippines delivered a message underlining God's providence for our churches in the country and the Philippines.

"It has been both smooth and rough. We have gone through a lot of trials and challenges but we move forward and hold on to the promises of Jesus Christ," he shared. Click here to read the full story by Kathlyn Talapian.

'Called to BE" is a Vocational Discernment Conference for High School and College Students. The event will held on July 18-21, 2013 at North Central College, Naperville, Illinois. 

The "Called to Be" Conference will help high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and college students consider their vocational calling to serve God and to prepare for their future.
