Apply for a Creative Ministries Grant

The Northern Illinois Conference Program Council is accepting applications for Creative Ministries Grants to help fund new ministry projects in 2013. 

The application forms (pdf and doc) are available on the NIC website, www.umcnic.org under "Resources" and "Grants" or by clicking here.

All applications must be submitted on or before May 1, 2013. For more information contact: Rev. Christopher Pierson at cpierson@umcnic.org or 847-931-0710 ext. 15.

Training materials for annual conference Boards of Ordained Ministry, presentations from a churchwide sexual ethics summit, and a lecture by  well-known civil rights activist, Rev. James Lawson, are among the materials now available through the  UMC Cyber Campus. Check it out.

The General Board of Higher Education and Ministry of The United Methodist Church has introduced an Online Continuing Education Consortium in collaboration with the 13 UM theological schools and seminaries. Check it out.

Cost: $61 through May 6 which includes a light working dinner during the opening plenary. On May 7 the cost increases to $80. If you need a paper mail-in registration form, contact your district administrator or registrar Kara Berg at acregistrar@umcnic.org or leave a message at 847-931-0710 ext. 19.

We are asking each district to get involved by bringing items for assembly of over 1,000 health/hygiene kits at Annual Conference on that Friday.

SBC21 Training Event

The Northern Illinois Conference (NIC) and Strengthening the Black Church in the 21st Century (SBC 21) are joining ranks to bring experts from around the country for empowered learning, interaction, praise and celebration to reach new generations.

Marva Andrews
New Administrative Assistant to the Bishop

Bishop Sally Dyck, along with the Conference Committee on Personnel, is pleased to announce the addition of Marva Andrews to the Episcopal Office staff.

Marva will begin her duties as Administrative Assistant to the Bishop in mid-April, working alongside Phyllis Griffin for several weeks of orientation. Read more [...]
Native American Ministries Sunday - April 14
 
This special offering benefits Native American outreach within annual conferences and across the United States and provides seminary scholarships for Native Americans.
 
Many resources are available for worship planning and additional conversations about Native American culture and theology.

Offerings on Native American Ministries Sunday may be given to the Native American Ministries Sunday offering, or to the Rainbow Covenant: Native American Ministry of Presence (Advance number 50000125) at any time. Your support enables our ministry of presence and education in the conference.
