Bishop appointment changes for two District Superintendents
|
Bishop Sally Dyck has appointed Rockford District Superintendent, the Rev. Ouk-Yean Kim Jueng to First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights and the Rev. Richard Wisdom from DeKalb District Superintendent to Aurora District Superintendent.
Rev. Jueng has served faithfully as Rockford District Superintendent for the past seven years. As the first Korean-American woman to serve on the Northern Illinois Conference Cabinet, Bishop Dyck said she has broadened our perspective with her presence.
Rev. Wisdom has served as the DeKalb District Superintendent for the past two years. Bishop Dyck said he has provided an excellent ministry and looks forward to his continued energy with the Aurora District.

NIC one of 20 conferences to pay 100%
|
The General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA) reports that the Northern Illinois Conference is one of 20 annual conferences which paid 100 percent of their general Church apportioned funds in 2012. Overall apportionment payouts reached 90 percent, the highest payout level the general Church has reached since 2001.
"I'm so proud of Northern Illinois churches for their faithfulness and ability to step up to the challenge of supporting ministry and mission throughout our United Methodist connection through the 100% payment of apportionments. Truly we are blessed with faithfulness and vitality!" said Bishop Sally Dyck.

Interfaith Bus Tour registration open

 Get on board and join Bishop Sally Dyck for this year's Interfaith Bus Trip. The Adult trip is March 22 and 23, with the youth portion being on Saturday March 23.
Each year, the interfaith bus trip gives adults and youth the opportunity to interact, ask questions, share faith, and experience what it means to live in a multi-religious society. The trip this year will visit many religious sites in the Western suburbs including a Hindu temple, Buddhist meditation hall, and Sikh Gurudwara (among other sites). Space is limited.

Preparing a New Generation of Leaders for the United Methodist ChurchSunday, March 3, 2013 - 3 pm Wentz Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville, Illinois (free parking is available nearby) Bishop Sally Dyck will bring the message and choir members from United Methodist Churches will sing in the worship as a mass choir in the Wentz Concert Hall. Dr. Troy D. Hammond, the new president of North Central College will share his perspective of the college. If you would like to join the choir and sing in the Wentz Concert Hall, please e-mail Chaplain Lynn Pries ( llpries@noctrl.edu ) and you will receive a copy of the anthem. Rehearsal will be at 1:30 p.m on Mar. 3.
