In the news: Immigration Reform

This week, proposed new immigration legislation has been in the news. A bi-partisan group of legislators, the President, and some of our United Methodist leaders, including Bishop Minerva Carcaņo, spoke of their support for Comprehensive Immigration Reform.  While there are many sides to immigration and differing opinions, the Northern Illinois Annual Conference and the United Methodist Church have made a public witness supporting reform.

As the conversation continues around immigration reform, you may wish to engage your congregation in the conversation.

Resources available include:

Jasmine's Story - UMC-produced video with accompanying study guide for congregations.  Media Resources ordered extra copies for local use, contact Susan Gieseler at 847-931-0710, ext. 17 or sgieseler@umcnic.org.  You can also download a copy through Rethink church by clicking here.
