Prayers for Sandy Hook Community
The Northern Illinois Conference continues to pray with all
those touched by the shooting tragedy in Connecticut.

Newtown United Methodist Church, which is within walking distance of Sandy Hook elementary school, served as a respite center for Red Cross first responders and opened its sanctuary for prayer. Two 7-year-olds from the congregation were among those killed in the rampage.

Other United Methodist churches and groups have responded to the tragedy by offering support. Click here to see headlines, useful links and resources related to school violence.

Help is still needed for victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Please send new cleaning supply buckets or supplies for the buckets to the Midwest Mission Distribution Center in Chatham, IL. Contact Kathy Kraisa KKRAISA@umcor.org for more information.

Keep the care going. Donations are low. Your contribution will help UMCOR to be with storm survivors over the long term of their recovery.  Please give to Hurricanes 2012, UMCOR Advance #3021787.

Apportionment Update

by Merrie Bunt, Apportionments Administrator, mbunt@umcnic.org

I am thrilled to report that the churches of the Northern Illinois conference have given over $5.2 Million so far in 2012, about 5% more compared to 2011.

A big thanks to the 53 churches which have already paid 100% apportionments. The postmark deadline for 2012 apportionment money is January 15, 2013. Click here for list of churches which have paid 100%.
