Shine the Light on Immigration - Tonight

Tonight at the Chicago Temple, 77 W. Washington St., a service will be held to shine a light on immigrant justice and "incarceration for profit".

Come hear testimony from detainees themselves and participate in an interfaith worship from 6pm-7:30pm.

The concern about incarceration for profit comes as the Correction Corporation of America (a company the General Board of Pensions officially divested of earlier this year) is proposing a new detention facility in Joliet, Illinois.  A candlelight witness will follow the interfaith service.

Harvest 2020 Advent Offering

Take part in a special Sunday conference-wide Harvest 2020 Advent offering. Harvest 2020 offering envelopes will be provided, as well as bulletin inserts.

Trained speakers are also now available to come and speak to your church, Sunday school classes, mission committees, UMM and UMW meetings, or circles. God's work of planting new faith communities in the NIC continues!

For more information contact, Anne Coon, Harvest 2020 Campaign Coordinator, 312-346-9766 x.107, acoon@umcnic.org.

Relief and Donations still needed to help Hurricane Sandy victims

Thousands of Hurricane Sandy survivors have seen the church in action during the last month.
Sushil Bhujbal
According to UMCOR and the Disaster Response Coordinators of the North Central Jurisdiction 20,000+ cleaning buckets went to New York and New Jersey Annual Conferences. Therefore, the UMCOR supply chain is pretty much depleted.

Please send new cleaning supply buckets or supplies for the buckets to the Midwest Mission Distribution Center in Chatham, IL. Contact Kathy Kraiza KKRAISA@umcor.org for more information.

Keep the care going. Donations are low. Your contribution will help UMCOR to be with storm survivors over the long term of their recovery.  Please give to Hurricanes 2012, UMCOR Advance #3021787.
NIC Board of Church and Society Grants

The NIC Board of Church and Society is currently taking grant applications for its two different programs: Emerging Ministries Grants and Peace with Justice Grants.

The same application titled Universal Grant  is used to apply to both programs. All applications are due December 30, 2012. Click here to download the application.
