Deacon Rick's Letter
We were fortunate to be able to offer an excellent alcohol-awareness convocation to our school community on Tuesday. Thank you to those parents who were able to join us or were able to watch the live stream of the event.
We had numerous speakers who were able to share personal witness or to educate us on the effects of the abuse of alcohol. The main speakers were Dawn and Norm Finbloom,

Registration continues for the 5th annual Parent Guild Trivia Night coming up very soon on November 10th. This event sold out last year and the registration deadline is October 30! Prepare for some new, fun categories that you and your table can work together on with questions such as: Which two teams will be playing in the 2012 World Series? There will be a 50/50 drawing as well as the opportunity to win:

Protocol Training
If you need to be certified or recertified in Protocol training - "Working with Minors", please plan on attending one of the following training sessions at Guerin Catholic or your Parish as soon as possible. Student sign-ups will take place Oct. 29-31 during all lunches.
*The entire process of donating takes less than an hour. A cholesterol, blood pressure, blood type, and iron check are included in your donation.
*Indiana Blood Center is charged with collecting 550 units every day to supply over 60 Indiana hospitals. Your donation will save up to 3 lives. Every drop counts!
Eligibility Most people are eligible to donate. There are very few causes for deferral and very few medications that are not acceptable. Donors cannot be taking antibiotics for infection. Cancer patients must be one year cancer free. Heart patients must be 6 months symptom free. Diabetics can donate. It is recommended that donors have a light snack before donating DO NOT FAST - feel free to have some of our juice and cookies. Be sure to bring your picture ID!
Open House Signs
Please stop by the front office next week and ask for an Guerin Catholic Open House sign to display in your yard or business. Open House will be held on Sunday, November 18, from 6-8:30 pm. If you know of a family considering Guerin Catholic for their child's education, please encourage them to attend our Open House! Parent Guild Meeting Our next Parent Guild Meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 7 at 9 a.m. in the main conference room. Campus Ministry Service Hours Opportunities Earn easy and fun volunteer hours by helping Santa Claus this December! Volunteers are needed to help with the Santa house that's located on the downtown Noblesville courthouse square. Volunteers are needed to greet families entering the Santa house as well as take pictures and pass out candy canes to the children. Most volunteer shifts are 3 hours long. Athletic Updates Boy's Soccer
The men's soccer team ended their season on Saturday after being defeated by Ft. Wayne Canterbury in the semi-state final game. They finished the season 20-1-1.
Congratulations to Tommy Hinkebein, George Poppas, Jay Kaskie, and Coach Cech. Tommy was named 1st Team All District. George Poppas, and Jay Kaskie were named 2nd Team All District, and Coach Cech Was named District Coach of the Year, and named the coach for the All District Team.
The Golden Eagles continue their quest for a Sectional championship tonight as they travel to Heritage Christian. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 pm. Watch live on the Guerin Catholic Faith Network.
Hockey
While most Guerin Catholic students relaxed for fall break, your hockey team took to the ice for two games on Sunday, October 21. NHC downed Bishop Dwenger, 4-2, with goals by Kyle Brinkworth and Luke DeWaal and assists by Isaac Fettig, Luke DeWaal and Adam Hacherl. Your skaters dropped a game to Zionsville, 4-1, with Kyle Brinkworth contributing an assist and Nick Bove saving 38 shots on goal. The team takes to the road for the next three weekends with games in Dyer, Fort Wayne and South Bend. Check www.noblesvillehockeyclub.com for the complete schedule and results. See you at the rink! Baseball All those planning to play baseball this year, need to stop by Coach Buckner's room (GV#9) after school on Wednesday (October 31) to quickly give their hat size and to pick up some information about important dates. Please have your sons stop by before they leave for home or for practice. This will only take a few minutes as the meeting is just to obtain hat sizes and to deliver some important dates for upcoming workouts and for the spring. Men's Tennis Congratulations to Jake Dunbar for being named Academic All-State Honorable Mention! Softball Any player interested in playing softball this season will need to attend a mandatory call-out meeting after school on Wednesday, October 31st. The meeting should be over at 3:45.
