Illinois has joined the quickly growing number of states and cities that have passed "ban the box" legislation-so named for the the box found on most employment applications asking whether an applicant has ever been convicted of a crime. You will need to remove that question from paper and electronic applications.

Member Spotlight: Chicagoland Beverage
Chicagoland Beverage Company (CBC) is a distributor of coffees, teas, and other non-alcoholic beverages based in the Kinzie Industrial Corridor.  Since it was established in 1989, CBC has grown to 40 employees servicing 32 states and is also a key distributor for Intelligentsia Coffee, another Chicago success story.  When faced with space challenges last year, CBC chose to remain in the corridor and built a new addition, improved its existing buildings, and repaved its loading/parking areas.  The expansion will enable the streamlining of processes by connecting its existing buildings.

CCO and CFO Sean Story said " ICNC has been integral in helping CBC obtain SBIF funding, class 6(b) eligibility, and New Market Tax Credit funding.  All of which have helped us fund our new addition, perform capital improvements to our existing project, and most importantly, given us the capacity to remain in our existing location and continue to expand our operations."  Chicagoland Beverage continues to demonstrate its commitment to the corridor and grow locally.
