Police District Merger Complete

An important reminder: the 013th Police District has officially dissolved, combining its area with the 012th District and changing several Beats in the process. The 012th District now covers much of ICNC's immediate service area from its headquarters at 1412 S. Blue Island Ave. The Chicago PD has assured ICNC repeatedly that the change will come without increased police response times to area crime.

Use this tool to search for your address's Police Beat, or see a map of Police Beats here.

Most importantly, remember to report all crimes to the police immediately, and use ICNC as your resource to share neighborhood crime warnings and best practices.

City Amends Kinzie Corridor Boundaries, Establishes Two New Corridors

The Chicago Plan Commission voted last month to amend the boundaries of the Kinzie Industrial Corridor, removing from it a section surrounding Carroll Avenue between Sacramento and Kedzie, as well as a Salvation Army campus on Spaulding north of Chicago Avenue. Small sections of land on Lake and Carroll have also been added to make the Corridor's boundary more contiguous. The decision brings no immediate changes to the affected lots, but removes one layer of oversight governing proposed zoning changes away from manufacturing uses.

The Commission also voted to establish the Wright Business Park Industrial Corridor and Northwest Highway Industrial Corridor, both on the city's northwest side. These are Chicago's first new industrial corridors since 2002.

City to Post Contract Procurement Details Online

Chicago's Department of Procurement Services plans to begin posting complete contract details online, in order to make the process more transparent to taxpayers. Beginning this year, both winning and losing bids for all construction and professional service contracts will be available online, instead of the total bid amount currently posted. The Department also plans to implement a new "E-Procurement" process, to allow vendors to submit bids online.

Chicago to Host 2013 U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Convention

Chicago will play host to the 34th National Convention of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, to be held Sept. 15-17 at the Hilton Chicago Hotel. The event, which draws professionals from the nation's largest Hispanic business network, anticipates about 7,000 attendees this year. Click here for more information on the event and the USHCC.
