WELCOME
| |
This Sunday, please welcome the Rev. Melinda Veatch, who is the Executive Director of Tarrant Area Community of Churches. She serves as facilitator for community partnerships that bring congregations and organizations together to address needs in the Tarrant Area. Those needs include poverty and hunger, high-school completion and ministry to the homeless. Her focus is bringing people together in community that bridges divisions, builds understanding and collaboration, and brings renewed life. For her, putting faith into flesh-and-blood action is the call that guides her life.
Before beginning her tenure at Tarrant Area Community of Churches, Melinda served as Associate Pastor of St. Philip Presbyterian Church in Hurst, focusing on education of children, youth and adults; congregational fellowship; preaching, pastoral care; and community ministry. She has also served as Moderator of Grace Presbytery, the regional body of Presbyterian churches in north central Texas, and on many of its committees and advisory groups. She is currently the Moderator of the Grace Presbytery Council.
She was a member of the Leadership Texas Class of 2001, and she has been part of many community boards, including: Tarrant County Youth Collaboration, United Way Northeast Steering Committee, Tarrant Area Food Bank, and Courage and Renewal North Texas. Currently she serves on the Fort Worth Advisory Commission to End Homelessness, and the United Way Community Development Advisory Committee.
Melinda lives in Fort Worth with her husband Glen, a historian, consultant, and author. They enjoy movies, good restaurants; exploring old towns, buildings, and sites; and traveling to as many new places as time will allow. They also enjoy looking up at the sky from the deck in their back yard.
