We live in an appreciation-starved culture. Often we fail to reflect on just how many people and events we have to appreciate. It's valuable to take the step to say to others, and ourselves "I appreciate you. I appreciate the contribution you make to me. I appreciate who you are and what you do in the world."

When we don't appreciate ourselves, our efforts, our failures as well as successes, it becomes difficult to appreciate others. Try an experiment. Write down 5 things you appreciate about yourself. See if you can spot those qualities in others. Then tell them you appreciate them for that gift.

Take a moment and meet someone new. You will be surprised at the gifts and talents we have right within our own community. AND remember to offer them words of appreciation.

Our Youngest Musician

We're so grateful for the lovely music of Gabrielle Castagna, who gifted us with music last Sunday. Gabrielle was born into this spiritual community and has participated here all of her life. She currently serves as a Teaching Assistant in our Young People's Program.

Her rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" was heart warming and her introduction - " We need to find that place over the Rainbow within ourselves" was deeply touching. Thank you, Gabrielle. And thanks to Joy Kilpatrick for beautifully signing to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".

Please Read Tips & Conserve!!!

• Run the dishwasher only when full to save water and energy. 
• When washing dishes by hand, don't let the water run. Fill one basin with wash water and the other with rinse water.
• Dishwashers typically use less water than washing dishes by hand.
• If your dishwasher is new, cut back on rinsing. Newer models clean more thoroughly than older ones.
• Soak pots and pans instead of letting the water run while you scrape them clean.

Use the garbage disposal sparingly. Instead, compost vegetable food waste and save gallons every time.

• Wash your fruits and vegetables in a pan of water instead of running water from the tap.
• Don't use running water to thaw food.   Defrost food in the refrigerator.
• Keep a pitcher of drinking water in the refrigerator instead of running the tap.
• Cook food in as little water as possible. This also helps it retain more nutrients.
• Select the proper pan size for cooking. Large pans may require more cooking water than necessary.
• If you accidentally drop ice cubes, don't throw them in the sink. Drop them in a houseplant instead.
