What is the Spirit of Christmas?

The mystical conception of Christ is an idea of the Universality of Sonship, embodied in any individual who recognizes this Sonship. We comprehend the Infinite only to the degree that It expresses Itself through us. As the human gives way to the divine in each person, s/he becomes the Christ.

Here in Ojai, Mother Nature has blessed us with a taste of REAL winter. More cold than I care to recall from my Indiana childhood. Memories float across my inner screen of building snowmen and racing down the hill face first in front of my house where the whole tiny town gathered to go sledding. And I can taste that vanilla snow my mother made for my younger sister and me.

What are your memories? I confess I used to tear open corners of my presents, the guessing of its innards too great to bear. But, I did NOT bug my parents by never-ending chanting of the Santa list I wanted over and over the way my own son did when he was six.

How good it is, in addition to the festivities, to open to a deeper significance of the Inner Christ (the anointed One) awaiting recognition and giving that awareness true air-time to be expressed.

Sun. December 22nd LIVE NATIVITY - Each figure in the Nativity Scene has a special metaphysical meaning that applies to each one of us. Please join the live actors and us for this special Sunday.

Mon. December 23rd - 5 p.m. CAROLING AT THE GABLES. No rehearsal necessary. Come join in as we bring some cheer to residents of this retirement and assisted living center. Meet in their boardroom - Montgomery & Grand.

Our Prayer Ministry is always available. Write your personal prayer request every Sunday at church. Please report your answers to prayer so we may share them in this newsletter.

GLOBAL EMERGENCY-HELP FOR THE PHILIPPINES. Tessie Goddard, Captain of our Creativity Team, has now raised over $20,000 for typhoon refugees. More than two million people have been left homeless. Our spiritual community continues to donate funds for this ongoing effort.

Please donate to the International Rescue Committee for refugees. Contribute at our Sunday service or take a check to Wells Fargo Bank's drop box. Put the words Philippines typhoon in the memo line. (The IRC uses less than 7% of funds for administrative costs and has an A+ rating.)

Months of December & January: SPIRITUAL CINEMA is on hiatus. We resume screenings in February.
