One of the definitions of "free" in the dictionary says "not determined by anything beyond its own nature or being." Our particular human journey on this planet is all about finding that inner freedom. The liberation we are really seeking is freedom from the limitations of fear, doubt, worry and lack so that we can begin living instead of hiding out.   We are seeking conscious awareness of our authentic self, our true nature of wholeness. I think most of us are not even consciously aware that we are not being our authentic self. We are not even aware of how fear-based our living is. We are here to discover and express the amazing qualities of enlightened consciousness which are inherent in our being.  Our spiritual journey is all about chiseling away all that we are not to reveal our true intrinsic nature and gifts.

Your life is calling you into greatness! It's calling you to release life energy, vitality and creativity. When you can allow me to see you and not be afraid of what I will see, that is ultimate freedom.....that is living in authenticity.

Sacred Service Saturday

Tomorrow, Saturday, July 13, is Sacred Service Saturday for the Symphony of Life. We will be working from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the backyard of the Ojai Valley Woman's Club, pulling weeds, clipping bushes, raking and gathering up debris in order to create a beautiful space for our children to be outside. Bring your gardening gloves, trowels, rakes, clippers, and plenty of water. (We always have a good time in service to our Ojai community!)

New Symphony of Life Youth Program!

July 2013 Letter to Parents

Dear Parents:

We are thrilled to share with you some of the wonderful advances in our Youth Sunday Program. Recently, our Sunday School teachers and Rev. Karen were blessed to meet with Carol Lotts who shared some of her experiences setting up Youth Sunday Programs at other churches. Her insights were combined with those of Rev. Karen and our Sunday School teachers who have worked with children in various ways (such as through heading up Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, acting as professional counselors, teaching Sunday School at various places, and acting as parents). The result has been the innovation (and renovation) or our Youth Sunday Program in a way that is truly delightful.

Some of the Sunday School Changes:

1. Sunday School will now start at 10:30 only. No teachers will be available before that time.
2. We will be utilizing an award winning curriculum designed especially for New Thought Sunday School programs to enliven and enrich our Sunday School at the Symphony of Life.
3. We are enhancing the visual look of the back room where the children meet to help inspire a more colorful and spiritual atmosphere.
4. We are setting up a monthly theme that the children will focus on that will be expanded upon each week through a variety of fun exercises. Monthly themes will include: creating sacred space, nature, self-worth, gratitude, giving and more!
5. We are creating a more structured environment where youth of different ages can come and learn age appropriate prayers, songs, stories, and lesson activities that will help them bring spiritual principles into their daily lives for greater success.
6. We have added an assistant who will support our teachers every Sunday.
7. And more!
    

The July theme is "Creating Sacred Space - Inner and Outer." On July 14, the lesson is "Prayer Flags." On July 21, the lesson is "Me and My Family." On July 28, the lesson is "Altars."

The Youth Program Teachers and Assistant are very excited to launch these changes beginning Sunday, July 7th. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming your children into our new, enriched program on upcoming Sundays!
