This past Sunday we talked about the fact that nothing happens by chance. Behind every event and condition in our lives there lies a cause. A negative idea or belief becomes realized as a negative circumstance and, conversely, a positive idea or belief produces a positive experience. Once we learn this universal principle of "as within, so without," we begin to see ourselves not as victims of chance, but rather as centers of divine creativity, able to access and constructively use the creative power of the universe. Since we are made in the image and likeness of the Creator, it makes sense that we have creative abilities. It makes sense that we have Divine Power, and we are here to use it!

Our affirmation for the day: I express all that I am as a Divine Being!

Symphony of Life Spiritual Cinema Night

This month's Spiritual Cinema Night will feature Scared Sacred, an award-winning documentary in which filmmaker Velcrow Ripper (Fierce Light, Occupy Love) travels to the "Ground Zeros" of the planet to ask whether it's possible to find hope in the darkest moments of human history. The film deftly weaves together stunning footage with haunting memories and inspirational stories to create an exquisite portrait of the human spirit rising to meet the most challenging circumstances. The film will be shown tonight, Friday, May 31, at Casa de la Luna, 710 S. La Luna, here in Ojai.  

Scared Sacred has won numerous awards, including "Best of the Festival" at the New Orleans International Human Rights Film Festival, where festival director Rene Broussard called it "One of the most cathartic and powerful films I have ever seen. It literally changed my life and sense of spirituality."

Doors open at 6:30 and the movie begins at 7:00 p.m. A discussion will follow the screening. The event is by donation ($5-$10 suggested although no one is turned away for lack of funds).

Symphony of Life Book Club

Our next Symphony of Life Book Club meeting will be held on Friday, June 14, at 7:00 p.m. We will be discussing our current book selection, A Fine Balance, by Rohinton Mistry, and choosing a new book for the month of July. You are welcome to join in at any time. If you like to read and are interested in having a stimulating conversation about the books you read, you'll enjoy this group. Choir Rehearsal Today

We are delighted that Sabastien Montgomerie has agreed to be our choir director! We are currently rehearsing for a performance at the Symphony of Life within the next couple of weeks.
