HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Happy Birthday to you! In every moment, we are made brand new. The potential is there for you to be reborn. We are going to be talking about that this Sunday, so come along for some great food for thought. Our congregation is on a seven-day mental diet this week. We are becoming conscious of our own inner dialogue so that as we move into 2013, we can begin to create the kind of life we want to live. "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be......." (1 John 3:2). Nature always takes you at your own valuation. If you truly believe that you have the potential within you to live a joy-filled, prosperous, beautiful, radiant life.....if you believe that there is a Divine Wisdom that guides and directs you.....if you believe that there is infinite possibility for your life, then that is what you will demonstrate.

Join us this Sunday at the Symphony of Life as we rise in Spirit and strengthen the commitment we are willing to make to ourselves.

In love and peace,

Rev. Karen Wylie

Classes Are Beginning

It's not too late to sign up for our classes which began this week. Rev. Karen is teaching "Tools for Spiritual Living," on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at The Gables Clubhouse, 701 N. Montgomery Street.  This class teaches the basics of metaphysics to deepen spiritual awareness and provide powerful spiritual tools for creating the life you want to live.

Rev. Marilyn Miller will be teaching Practical Mysticism, the dates and times to be determined. This class provides the framework for the student to live a more mystical life in present time. This course is ideal for anyone seeking to deepen his or her own awareness of the Divine reality in daily life. Contact Rev. Karen (805) 640-3743, or Rev. Marilyn at (805) 640-0498 to enroll.

Want to Sing?

If so, come to Sherry Owen's home, 506 Shady Lane, here in Ojai on Friday, January 18, at 5:30 p.m. Our Symphony of Life Choir is beginning rehearsal for an upcoming performance.

Spiritual Cinema Night

Our Spiritual Cinema Night resumes on Friday, January 25, with Waste Land, a poignant film about the transformative power of art. The film follows contemporary artist Vik Muniz as he returns to his native Brazil to photograph the lives of catadores, entrepreneurial garbage pickers in the world's largest landfill, Jardim Gramacho, on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. As Muniz gets to know and collaborate with his subjects, we witness the transformational power of art at work. We also come to appreciate the courage, resilience, and dignity of even these "lowliest" of workers.

Waste Land was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Feature Documentary. It won the Audience Award for World Cinema Documentary at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, the Amnesty International Human Rights Watch Award at the 2010 Berlin Film Festival, and the Best Documentary Award at the Grande Premio de Cinema Brasileiro.

Doors open at 6:30 and the movie begins at 7:00 p.m. The event is by love donation ($10 suggested) although no one is turned away for lack of funds. The film is shown at Casa de la Luna Retreat Center located at 710 S. La Luna Avenue in Ojai. There is parking on the property.
