SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
"The food you furnish your mind determines the character of your life." So says Emmet Fox. Given that information and the fact that we are beginning a powerful new year, I've decided that this Sunday, we are going on a diet! This diet is not going to be about the food we eat, however. It is going to be about the food we are feeding our minds.
Join us this Sunday at the Symphony of Life as we begin our seven-day mental diet! This discipline will be so strenuous that you could not maintain it consciously for much more than a week, but a week will be enough, because by that time the habit of positive thinking will begin to be established. Come and check out this diet. The weight of the world might be lifted off your shoulders!

Classes are Beginning It's not too late to sign up for our classes which are beginning the third week of January. Rev. Karen will be teaching "Tools for Spiritual Living," from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. beginning Wednesday, January 16. This class teaches the basics of metaphysics to deepen spiritual awareness and provide powerful spiritual tools for creating the life you want to live. The second class is Practical Mysticism taught by Rev. Marilyn Miller beginning on Tuesday, January 15, 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. This class provides the framework for the student to live a more mystical life in present time. If so, come to Sherry Owen's home, 506 Shady Lane on Friday, January 11, at 5:30 p.m. Our Symphony of Life Choir is going to be rehearsing some songs and chants for an upcoming performance (date and time to be determined). Book Club At the Symphony of Life, there is something for everyone. If you love to read, you will enjoy reading and discussing books with our current book club members. We will be meeting on Friday, January 11, at 7:00 p.m. at the home of Jan and Alan Peter to discuss our current selection for the month of January and to choose our book for February. Sacred Service Event Sign up now to volunteer for our quarterly Sacred Service Event which will be held on Wednesday evening, January 30. The Symphony of Life will be providing, cooking and serving a full-course dinner to 25 members of the Ojai Valley Family Shelter at the St. Andrews Community Building located at the corner of Bristol Road and Ojai Avenue. Begin your year in service as a giver! Sign-up sheet is available at the Symphony of Life Spiritual Center on Sunday. Mystical Mediterranean Odyssey June 27 - July 6, 2013 Join Rev. Karen on an amazing Mystical Mediterranean Odyssey from the holy city of Rome, Italy to Istanbul, Turkey, cities filled with architectural wonders and monuments to the faiths that inspired them. There will be morning and evening meditations, led by Rev. Karen throughout the voyage. As we go back in time, we will take our own personal inward journey in discovery of the mystical in us.
