Photos from the JCC's Garden

Jason Goldstein (left) and Rabbi James Greene with the first strawberry The JCC has established an aquaponic garden in the field area behind the pool. In an aquaponic garden, fish live below, plants live above. We picked the first fruit from the garden on May 19th -- a strawberry. Here's a photo of JCC staff members Jason Goldstein and Rabbi James Greene picking the momentous fruit. Rabbi James asked us to share the blessing for strawberries with you:
The first strawberry to grow in the aquaponic garden Barukh atah Adonai Eloheinu Melekh ha'olam, bo're p'ri ha'adama.
Blessed are you, Lord our God, who brings fruit from the earth.

Photos from the APJCC Preschool's Visit to "Israel"
Archeological dig Camel ride Milking the kibbutz cow
On Israel Independence Day in May, the children of the APJCC Preschool took an imaginary trip trip to Israel. They boarded an El Al flight and landed near Tel Aviv. On their journey, they fished in Elat, dug for artifacts in Cesarea, rode camels in the desert, milked a cow on a kibbutz and danced at the Western Wall. Then they took a return flight and were back at preschool in time for snack. Magical!
The preschool is now accepting applications for the 2013-14 school year. If you would more information or to schedule a tour please call 408.357.7417 or email [email protected].
