GE Café Chefs Series

We’re picking up spring flavours this Sunday, April 14, as Chef Ryan Crawford, graduate of the Stratford Chefs School (Gastrohomestead, Niagara), returns to Stratford demonstrating the importance of sustainability using the entire lamb in several preparations including pickled tongue, carpaccio, croquets, sausage, chops and of course, grilled marinated leg of lamb. Sommelier Daniel Lafleur of Tawse Winery will pair your lunch with award-winning wines from Tawse, the same location where the lambs were raised and used to prune the grape vines in the vineyard.

On April 21 we welcome Top Chef Canada’s Rob Rossi (Bestellen, Toronto) creating every course "From Scratch…with love!" Sharing Rob’s Italian roots, you’ll make steak tartare, hand-made spaghetti, whole roasted leg of lamb stuffed and rolled, finishing with traditional panna cotta.

The series continues May 5 as Chef Jonathan Gushue (Langdon Hall, Cambridge) creates a seasonal menu from the garden. Classes run from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Local Community Food Centre in Stratford. Check out menus and purchase tickets on-line at www.visitstratford.ca/GEChefs.

Savour Stratford Spring Tastings

A Foraging Feast with Milky Whey takes you to the wild side with seasoned foraged, Peter Blush of Puck’s Plenty. On April 27 Peter will lead you along Perth County paths in search of early spring greens followed by a pairing with selected local cheese at Milky Whey. On May 4 Foraging for Edible Plants is planned as Peter guides you along his favourite stretches of the Avon Trail in search of wild leeks, stinging nettles and fiddleheads.
