Dear Women of Wisdom,
Happy New Year! We wish you the best for 2013. It's an exciting time to begin again - explore your dreams for what you want in your life and what better way to do that than to join us in Seattle in February for our 21st Conference!
We're getting excited as we see people registering for the events and know that they are going to have a fabulous time, making new friends, exploring their passions, and just connecting with others in our community.
Join us for a special dinner, that everyone is invited to, to come meet some of the presenters, vendors, artists, healers, and committee and council members who've been working hard all year to make this conference a very special one. It will be Wednesday, January 23rd at the Greenwood Senior Center (information below). Last year we had a full house, and it was a wonderful time meeting everyone.
It's important to register ahead of time so we know how many to prepare for, and you can either register on our website, or email an rsvp. More details are below.
In this email are special announcements regarding conference, and one to make note of is our Art Show. The deadline is coming up January 11th. Also we do receive inquiries from attendees who would like to find shared housing, so if you are able to host someone, that would be great.
In addition to our swag bag insert opportunities, you might think about advertising your services to our attendees through an ad in our evening programs. Or better yet, co-sponsor an evening for $500 and have a booth at one of the evenings!

Council is excited for our new program that we will be launching this spring: a Circle Leadership Certification Program. We'll send you more information later, and we'll have brochures at the conference. We'd like you to consider joining us for this 9-month program to bring our WOW Way of Circle Leadership to others. It will be an exciting, participatory experience of being in circle, and honing your leadership skills in the new paradigm that this world needs.
We have launched our online Healers Temple - please read about it below. This is a new WOW endeavor to bring our healers and readers together so you can find trusted alternative practitioners of healing services such as medical intuitives, psychic readers, tarot, astrology, shamanic healers, etc. And so many people work online and by phone now that the Healers Temple will be available to all of our readers.

WOW is looking for original art by women with themes around the conference title, which is Women Leading the Evolutionary Shift ~ Midwifing the New Paradigm.

Work Exchange, Volunteers, and Scholarships
Would you like to contribute to (and experience) the Conference but are not able to be on a Committee? Do you think you won't be able to attend due to financial difficulties?
There are a variety of jobs that need to be done in order for the Conference to run smoothly and these jobs are filled 100% by volunteers. This ranges from helping out in the registration office before the Conference all the way to set up and clean up at the Conference, with everything in between.
Work Exchange is volunteer time done in exchange for workshops and evening events. An
Angel Volunteer is a woman who offers up her gifts and time with the true spirit of volunteerism. We are pleased to be able to offer scholarships to those that need assistance and are unable to perform Work Exchange.

The planning committee has been working on the 2013 conference since Spring and things are really coming together. We're excited about what has been done so far and looking forward to the next few months of finishing details. Now we're working on the different areas and setting up who will be the coordinators. A few areas that we're still looking to fill are coordinators are:
Concessions, Housing, Marketing, Logistics & Signage, and Decorating. Many of these shared with another co-coordinator to lighten the work load and increase the enjoyment.
There are many ways to participate and we welcome the addition of new and returning sisters to share in this rewarding process. If you would like to be a part of the circle that creates our conference, or would like more information about the roles we are filling, please email wow@womenofwisdom.org We welcome you to join our circle of fabulous women!

 Help us make this the best Silent Auction ever! We already have some amazing items donated. We would like to offer an even richer variety of auction items this year, so don't be afraid to think outside of the box: Gift baskets, symphony tickets, photography or other artwork, services such as garden planning or a weekend at your vacation home, etc.
The Silent Auction is another way for Conference attendees to learn about you and the work that you do. By donating you can generate more excitement about your contribution and motivate people to want to know more about you, your services and products.

 Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony is a WOW Conference tradition. If you would like to be part of the team that creates and presents the ceremony on the first night of the Conference, Thursday, February 14, contact Veronica Appolonia at vindaloo2002@msn.com. The first meeting will be held in the Hall at Standing Stone Healing & Arts on Thursday, January 3 from 7 to 9PM.

Advertising Opportunity! We have lots of attendees who will come only to the evening events on Thur, Fri, and Sat of the conference. Putting an ad in the programs is a great way to market your business and reach more people. Pricing : $175 for half page (5 " wide by 4" high), $95 for quarter page (5" wide by 2" high). Or three nights for the price of two: $350 half page ($117 a night) or $190 quarter page ($63.33 a night) If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, email wow@womenofwisdom.org with "Program Ad" in the subject line.  INTRODUCING WOW'S HEALERS TEMPLE RESOURCE GUIDE Within Women of Wisdom there is a wealth of diverse spiritual energy healers and our members would love to know of their services and support our wise woman healers from WOW. A year ago, the WOW Council celebrated 20 years and created its vision for the next decade. As we engage in the midwifery of the Evolutionary Shift, we turn both inward and outward seeking to transform the personal, as well as the collective consciousness. One of our visions was to create an ongoing resource of our gifted women year round, such as the healers and readers in the conference Temple. With limited space at conference, this is a way we can expand and include people from all over within our community. So many people are utilizing the phones or the internet to do this work now, we can make this accessible to everyone. WOW announces the establishment of a permanent on-line HEALERS TEMPLE RESOURCE GUIDE. With the promotion of your services in the guide, a link to the WOW online HEALERS TEMPLE will take readers to your display on our pages. We desire to see the promotion and education about the various healing modalities, which include intuitive readers,energy and body workers. Seekers looking for healing will better understand what our community can provide and trust that those from our community have passed our process of referrals. Each month, one of our Healers will be featured in the once a month Healers Temple Resource Guide for a price of $125. Our email list reaches 5000 people. We will send out the guide on the 15th of the each month. Application for inclusion in the HEALERS TEMPLE requires a one-time application fee of $15 for WOW members, and $25 for non members. Once accepted, individuals can secure promotional space on a monthly basis, with discounts for quarterly, half-year, or full-year inclusion in the HEALERS TEMPLE RESOURCE GUIDE. The Wisdom Within

If you've been around the self help block you would be familiar with the term "inner voice." This voice, to brief you, is your internal guidance system, your intuition & your true self. It's ageless, intelligent and formless. It sometimes speaks to you through feelings. I am sure you can recall someone or yourself saying,"Something told me I shouldn't have XYZ." "I had a feeling I should have X, Y, Z." I refer to it as the "wisdom within".
"Changing The Face of Wisdom" the title of my eBook & website spawned from that voice. There was a time I had so much static between "wisdom" and I couldn't understand the directions it would give me. I would struggle with the depth of insights I would receive because a lot of my actions and who I thought I was on the surface contradicted themselves. Therefore I had to "[Change] the Face of Wisdom".
Wow, now looking back I can't believe how long my journey was, how long it took me to settle into what I "felt" I was meant to do. In so many ways I resisted my gifts, my "greatness". One of Les Brown slogans is "You have greatness within you". I would get emotional listening to him because my belief in myself was so minimal. I also recalled him saying that it took him years before he thought he could get on a stage, and how he would talk himself out of doing what he is doing now.
I wonder what you're talking yourself out of doing?
Every time I move towards my true goals, accomplish them and even fail I always find a newfound respect for those who succeed before and after me. I say that because the most difficult thing to do in life is overcome "yourself". On this journey it seems, sometimes you have to betray yourself and all the thoughts of limitation accumulated in life and begin to listen to the wisdom within.
The wisdom within does not just guide you in and out of trouble. It is always communicating with you in some form but only to the extent of your awareness of it. There are also some layers, static that must be removed to clearly hear it.

ARIES - Consider helping someone, a family or other hat is in need of it. Efforts to share experience, money, time, knowledge can be beneficial to all. Often times it is just a kind word, or taking the time to help others less fortunate than you to understand, to adapt, and to come to greater peace. Natural responses can work best, staying in the moment and just being open when another asks for counsel. Objectivity will be your best ally. Drop all artifice or pretense about anything you are doing. Be discrete, yet assertive while drawing on your strong inner reserve and desire to make a difference. Become more tolerant, straightforward and helpful. The peace that can come from this can be contagious.
TAURUS -There is newness afoot, a need to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances. Whatever the framework, settle in and make use of what is available to you. Do not just sit there when you know you must move. Take the time to evaluate conditions both on an outer and an inner sense. Be generous and accommodating in both your personal and professional relationships. Make the most of good communication over these opening months of the New Year. Much support can be tapped into now if you make the effort to do so. Align yourself daily with the intention of making the best use of your energy and resources. Strengthen your inner convictions about what is most important to you. Make a simple goal list for the next six months, checking off things on a monthly basis. In doing this you can surprise yourself and be in more harmony with the times!
GEMINI - In regards to properly utilizing your creativity you may be pressed into making significant decisions and appraisals. A keyword for you is that of adapting to situations that will present themselves, some to your great surprise, over the coming months of 2013. Adapting is skill in knowing when to act and when to rest. There is a law that basically states that no situation can be won until you at first seek to serve it. Seek to make your goals harmonious to the needs of those you witness around you. You may part ways with some old goals as you seek to develop new ones. New methods of healing need to be tried, both given and received. Evaluate the standards you have set for yourself and see if they still truly reflect your needs. Changes are occurring both in your own objectives and those around you. Some choices may be confusing but remember your cardinal rule of simplicity. Limit choices to no more than two selections and pick one. Throw the alternate over your shoulder and move on. When in doubt wait a day or two for clarity and you will suddenly know.

Women's History you have never been taught

 Women's history is not taught in schools or universities, meaning each woman has to learn her history on her own or not at all. This Teleclass will discuss how women's history has been lost, some important facts like the Peking man is actually the Peking woman, and rewrite some of the women back into history that have made a difference in all of our lives. This course, hoped to be the first of many, will focus on how the history was lost, the importance of spirituality and healing for ancient women, as well as accomplishments of women in the arts. Suggestions and exercises will be designed to help participants re-find and re-store this history. The course facilitator will also give suggestions on resources of Women's History and creative ways to learn about women's history.
Kathleen M. Bishop, Ph.D. is a Gerontologist with a specialty in aging in people with disabilities, women, and environmental design. She has presented over 15 years on-line and over 30 years of traditional classroom teaching. Her passion is women's history, she presents frequently on topics related to women's history. She is also a published author of 'Whistling up the Wind" and is currently writing a book 'Reclaiming women's lives through diaries and letters.'

Celebrating Spirit in Community with Plants
