Dear Women of Wisdom,
October first is here, and we're having a wonderful sunny (although dry conditions are bad for fires) fall.
In September we had a conference committee retreat to plan our conference, and we're very excited about our program. In November we'll be mailing brochures to those on our database, and if you'd like to receive this please send us your mailing address by mid October to wow@womenofwisdom.org.There were so many wonderful workshops that we couldn't include everyone that we wanted, which is everyone! We've selected a few of our local presenters to be part of our Community Connections program for 2013 as well. So we are looking forward to a fabulous 2013!
We'll continue our monthly dances, quarterly dinners and Community Connection workshops, and there are some new programs that will be launched at conference. Stay tuned for some exciting news!
Very soon we will be announcing the launch of an online Temple just as we have healers and readers at our conference! We will send a special enewsletter announcement about how you can apply to participate in this resource. If you are in the healing profession, it'll be an opportunity for you to be visible to our members, and they will be able to find trusted Women of Wisdom practitioners of holistic health modalities, including intuitive readers of tarot, astrology, and other modalities available in our region. And many people work online now or by phone so the Temple will be available to all of our readers.
That is just the first stage of Women of Wisdom developing new resources for you. We're excited about our direction and hope you will be too.
I hope you will join us for our dance this Friday, and our community dinner on October 23rd. We make the best food with love and you can taste the love in the delicious food, and the conversations will be delightful as we share our summer experiences, in addition to watching a film.
It's nearing our deadline for our last call for vendors at the conference, and we've announced the call for healers and readers at the conference now. More information is in the enews on how you can apply to participate with your gifts at WOW in February.
I get excited at this time of year as I will be interviewing our Women of Wisdom presenters beginning October 19th on my radio show, Voices of Women, on Voices of Women Talk Radio at 1pm Pacific time on Fridays. The interviews will continue each week until the conference begins. Please join us and learn about what they'll be sharing with you in February.

Mark your calendar and join us for the next Puttin' on the WOW Dinner. It's always fun, the food is always delicious, and the company is always delightful!
This month, we'll be serving a dinner of succulent, Fall harvest foods, homemade by members of the WOW council. We'll raise a glass and toast the changing of the seasons as we share our stories of summer adventures over dinner!
After, we'll view the film by Meinrad Craighead, a 1983 founding WOW presenter, "Praying with Images".  "Praying with Images" is a documentary exploring the lifelong pilgrimage of Meinrad Craighead and her mystical encounters with the Divine Feminine. Her spiritual and artistic journey extends from her childhood in Arkansas, to teaching in the Southwest, studying in Italy and Spain, and spending fourteen years in England as a nun.
Her art spans time, distance and traditions to combine imagery from Catholicism, Native American Shamanism, and ancient mythology. Add to the mix her own dreams and mystic visions and the result is a unique synthesis of energy, color, and connectedness. The film includes nearly 100 of Meinrad's painting and prints.

3:00 - 5:00 p  m Aligning to the Source with Heather Taylor-Zimmerman
Sacred geometry provides the structure of creation, within ourselves and the world around us. It is a system of relation, a bridge connecting the microcosm within and the macrocosm without, the quantum and the astrophysical levels of being. Human traditions have drawn upon geometry to align themselves to focus their consciousness through art, whether it was Carl Jung and the mandala of consciousness, a Tibetan sand mandala or a Hindu yantra. We will learn to understand and draw upon this system of alignment to create a more purposefully patterned life through visualization and self-exploration.
Heather Taylor-Zimmerman is an artist who works with sacred geometry and symbolism to express universal truths through human transformation and creation. Her art focuses upon concepts of alignment that center the viewer and expose them to mediated experiences.

Keep in mind that everyone is a little drunk on the Kool-Aid... ~Connie ARIES -SELF-RELIANCE...is part of the formula for you as you tune into more of your intuitive type of vision. Seek to make messages to others crystal clear. Go deeper and explore areas in which you lack clarity or feel uncertainty. Those drawn together by like minds and goals, not to mention heart, can accomplish much. Compromise is crucial and a major part of the strategy to a more peaceful coexistence. There is a need for new blood, new ideas, and a new sense of spirit in order to flourish. This is not the time to get too pessimistic. Do not place too much emphasis on appearance -seek to tap into more substance. Continue to make the most of what is realistic and eliminate what is in excess! TAURUS RAISE the SPIRIT...in times of stress it can be the simple pleasures that uplift the spirit. Care for yourself and others by doing simple things that just show that you care. Make the extra phone call, share your supper or send that card. Sometimes you can feel that you are in a strange or alien environment where you feel little understood. Sharing mutual thoughts with those you get the nudge to do can be helpful Small efforts done with love can invoke powerful healing and bring comfort and relief to all concerned. Strive to loosen up any rigidity and instead work to adapt to any changing situations. Critical to your sense of inner peace is feeling comfortable and secure but over the next few months make the effort to break new ground! GEMINI -OPEN...sesame as new winds blow in from the heavens. Lucky you. There are deeper levels of abundance coming in that can be more self-sustaining, nurturing and just plain fun. Keep your options open and remember that even in the simplest of meetings or opportunities can spring great things. Bring chosen ideas more into material formation and watch what forms. There can be new ideas; information or understandings you need to share so make effort to do so by either taking pen to paper or speaking it. Some new artistic classes could be helpful as well. It is important to hone your communication skills and share in an open, trusting way. At the same time make sure you check your facts and if something is doubtful, keep it to yourself until you achieve more clarity-words have power! CANCER-TRANSCEND the ordinary in order to see new possibilities. Quiet withdrawal can be just what you n need now. It is easy to become isolated due to old patterns and habits. The time moves forward in that it calls you to release more of your old identity. Being fussy or judgmental does not help matters either. A core part of the question is what keeps you still in a somewhat tenuous state of inner security as opposed to being fully secure and confident? Sometimes the distance between you and the answer can feel pretty far. Examine what needs to be said to others as you also temper and improve your relationship with your deepest self. Most things of enduring value take time to build. Bridge any gaps by cultivating new ways of looking at your situation while at the same time you generate options that perhaps have gone unnoticed. Women's History you have never been taught

 Women's history is not taught in schools or universities, meaning each woman has to learn her history on her own or not at all. This Teleclass will discuss how women's history has been lost, some important facts like the Peking man is actually the Peking woman, and rewrite some of the women back into history that have made a difference in all of our lives. This course, hoped to be the first of many, will focus on how the history was lost, the importance of spirituality and healing for ancient women, as well as accomplishments of women in the arts. Suggestions and exercises will be designed to help participants re-find and re-store this history. The course facilitator will also give suggestions on resources of Women's History and creative ways to learn about women's history.
Kathleen M. Bishop, Ph.D. is a Gerontologist with a specialty in aging in people with disabilities, women, and environmental design. She has presented over 15 years on-line and over 30 years of traditional classroom teaching. Her passion is women's history, she presents frequently on topics related to women's history. She is also a published author of 'Whistling up the Wind" and is currently writing a book 'Reclaiming women's lives through diaries and letters.'
