The Panettone Have Arrived!
Each year we anxiously await the arrival of our order of Rustichella d'Abruzzo Panettone from Italy. For us, the arrival marks the start of the holiday gift giving season.
These panettone have developed a cult following of sorts over the years. Many of you know exactly what we mean - they've become a yearly tradition in your family. (Remember the brown paper wrap? You've probably been serving it at your holiday table as long as we've imported it - 15 years!). This cult status is well deserved. The texture, aroma and flavor of Rustichella d'Abruzzo Panettone stands worlds apart from all the other mass-market panettone.
This year the wait is over. Luckily, our shipment missed Hurricane Sandy's treacherous path when it arrived on the East Coast, ensuring their safe delivery to our warehouse in California and then, hopefully, straight to your holiday table. |

NEW! Pandoro from Rustichella d'Abruzzo
When we learned that this season Rustichella d'Abruzzo would be offering a traditional Pandoro, we couldn't get our order in quickly enough. Available for the first time ever in the US, this cake, shaped to resemble the Italian Alps, is moist and fragrant and wrapped in sophisticated cream and navy paper.
Pandoro (pan d'oro) is a traditional Christmas and New Year's Eve Italian sweet yeast bread, similar to panettone but without the candied fruit. Typically from Verona, this "golden bread" has been served in Venetian palaces since the 17th century and is usually enjoyed at the end of the meal with sparkling wine. Serve topped with a warm custard, or cut a hole in the bottom, remove part of the interior and fill with vanilla gelato or Chantilly crème.
