After Eight Years Off the Rails, Luxury Train Glows

Southern Spain's opulent Al-Andalus Express triumphantly returned to the rails last year.

As Society of IRT Vice President Angela Walker reports in IRT's Track 25, the newly refurbished train, which ceased running in 2005, is better than ever. Click here to see the new itinerary.

Al-Andalus includes a bar, tea room and two dining cars, as well as private, all-en-suite facilities. The six-day, five-night tour begins and ends in Seville, with stops in Córdoba, Granada, Cádiz and Jerez.

Tour highlights include visits to the famed "Alhambra," the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, and Doñana Natural Park, largest of its kind in Europe.

The tour is a culinary/wine event as well, with guests enjoying lunches and dinners at prominent local restaurants off-train.
