New Member!
Taking the spot of our 14th new Chamber Investing Member Business in 2015 is Delgado's Restaurant in Great Bend, Kansas!  Delgados opened at 2210 10th Street in 1994 and has been a staple in Barton County cuisine ever since.  

They are open Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. - 1:30 and 5 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Next time you're in Great Bend, stop and and say welcome to Terri and her staff!
 
Labor Day Appreciation Party
The Labor Day Committee, Ambassadors and Board would like to thank everyone who volunteered their time over the Labor Day weekend with a Volunteer Appreciation Party on Sunday, October 4th at Cardinal Lanes starting at 6:30 p.m.  

Please come and enjoy dinner and drinks on the Labor Day Committee! The lanes and concessions will be open for the evening as well.

Kans For Kids Fighting Cancer
YOU'RE INVITED!

Kans for Kids Auction coming up on Oct. 3. New attraction this year? BIDDING WAR between Alan Hoffman and Jeff Zoller. The LOSER has to wear the opposing teams cheerleading outfit to a Hoisington Chamber of Commerce meeting, cheer up Main St. one time and have their photo taken for the newspaper. Community Welcome Reception for New Clara Barton Staff

Clara Barton Hospital and Clinics is welcoming new faces this fall!  Dr. P.J. Stiles, native of the Claflin area, is returning home to join our surgical staff of Dr. Jeremy Howes and Leah Alpers, PA-C.  Dr. Stile's practice began on July 1st and he is welcoming new patients to Clara Barton's existing surgical services.  Dr. Stiles specializes in general surgery and endoscopic minimally invasive procedures.
 
Clara Barton also welcomes three new PAs: Kelci Burkey, PA-C, Miranda Beran, PA-C, and Christina Armstrong, PA-C, all joining the Clara Barton Clinics in Family Practice.
 
Please join us for a meet and greet reception Sept. 29th 4:30-6PM in the Turnbull Safe Room at Clara Barton Hospital to welcome Clara Barton's newest staff to the community.

Community Events
TEXAS HOLD'EM POKER TOURNAMENT
 
Everyone 21 and over is invited to compete in a Texas Hold'Em Poker Tournament at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 4 at the Hoisington Knights of Columbus Hall.  The Knights host this tournament to raise funds to be donated to area charities.


HOISINGTON ANNUAL FALL CLEAN-UP

The Annual Fall Clean-Up will be October 1 & 2.  residents should place items on their front curb no more than two days prior the their regular day of trash pickup. Customers must be on trash service to participate.

Items to be picked up must be in bags, boxes or tied up as appropriate. Items thrown on the ground loose will not be picked up.

Be Well Barton County is sponsoring a series of Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning Workshops to help develop a new Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. The Workshops will give you a chance to visit with the project facilitator, share experiences, and be a part of making our communities safe.  

The workshops are informal, designed to give you a chance to offer ideas and suggestions about streets, pathways, design, routes, and other items in YOUR COMMUNITY. Stop by for 15 minutes or stay for the evening.  Come to any or all of the workshops; we want your input!




Announcing the 2015 Refuge Photo Contest! We invite you to show us your photographs of the habitats, wildlife and people that make our national wildlife refuges such incredible places. 
 
Our nation is home to more than 560 national wildlife refuges which provide habitat for 700 bird species, 220 mammal species, 250 reptile and amphibian species, and over 1000 species of fish. Landscapes range from the artic tundra in Alaska to tropical coastlines along the U.S. Virgin Islands.
 
Enter our contest and share the sights you've photographed while visiting a wildlife refuge.
 
Photo submissions will be accepted from September 15 to November 15Enter for your chance to win a $1,000 cash prize or items generously donated by our contest sponsors:

  • Second prize: Set of binoculars from Eagle Optics

  • Fall Fest at Long Pumpkin Patch Oct. 4
    Members of the Barton County Young Professionals group are invited to bring their families to FALL FEST, sponsored by Bauer & Pike Law Firm. The free event will take place Sunday, October 4th from 4-6 p.m. at Long Pumpkin Patch, 163 NE 30 Road outside of Great Bend. Activities include pumpkin painting, face painting, a family photo booth, corn maze, and more. Fall treats will be provided. Bring your family, your friends, and your coworkers to this old-fashioned family festival! Sign Up Now for the First Ever #YP5K and Half Marathon Oct. 10

Sign up early to participate in the first ever YP5K and Half Marathon (#YP5K on social media) taking place Saturday,October 10th at Vets Park in Great Bend. Participants can elect to run or walk the 5k course or take on the more challenging half marathon course. The race will start and end at Veterans Memorial Park. Between the race events, there will be a Family Fun Zone with activities for the entire family, even if you did not participate in the races. NEW, the committe has also decieded to offer free childcare for those who participate in one of the race events. The kids will get to enjoy the Family Fun Zone, including a hay maze, hay slide, hay fort, and more! There will also be a photo contest using the hashtag #YP5K on social media. Post your race day photos using the event hashtag for a chance to win prizes! Register online, or find us on Facebook. Proceeds will sponsor bike racks throughout Barton County.
