Providence Catholic's Winterguard
Earn Bronze Championship Medal
(New Lenox) - Providence Catholic High School held an all-school assembly on Monday, April  11 in recognition of its Winterguard team who earned a 3rd place (Bronze Medal) at the Midwest Colorguard Circuit. The team competed in Class SRA (Scholastic Regional A) against 27 teams from Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin at the championships in LaPorte, Indiana in early April.

During the assembly, the team performed their award-winning show entitled "A Guard Process," which used nostalgic quotes spoken by the actual members of the team throughout the music score. The three main parts of the show were, 'Discovering Guard', 'Learning and Practicing Your Skill' and 'The Performance'. Following their routine, Mr. Lawrence Rogers, Director of Bands, introduced the team and awarded the girls their medals.

This year marks the third consecutive year for the Winterguard to place at the Midwest Colorguard Circuit Championship earning Silver medals in 2014 and 2015.

The team includes Natalie Deters '17 (Joliet), Mena Edwards '17 (Joliet), Co-Captain Georgia Hiotis '16 (Orland Park), Shannon Knoebel '17 (Lockport), Bridgette Needham '19 (Monee), Collette O'Connell '16 (Mokena), Co-Captain Tessa Vecchi '16 (Frankfort) and Emma Sierzega '17 (Joliet).
