Six Providence Catholic Student-Athletes make College Commitments

(New Lenox) - Dr. John Harper, Principal of Providence Catholic High School, is pleased to announce that seniors David Charnot, Michael Falejczyk, Patrick Kowalkowski, Michael Markasovic, Brendan O'Hara and Thomas Younker will continue their respective sports at the collegiate level.  "We are extremely proud of these young men for their dedication and wish them the very best in college and in the future," said Harper.
 
David Charnot, son of Dave and Christina Charnot of Orland Park, signed his National Letter of Intent to attend Upper Iowa University where he will continue his football career on an athletic and academic scholarship.  Charnot is a graduate of Cardinal Joseph Bernardin School and a parishioner at St. Elizabeth Seton Church.  The honor roll student is a member of the National Honor Society and the Augustinian Youth Ministry.  Furthermore, Charnot has been a member of the Celtic football team for his entire high school career and was Co-Captain of the team (2015).  He was a member of the 2014 state championship team, named All-Conference CCL Blue and a member of the All-State Academic Team.
 
Michael Falejczyk, son of Matthew and Cindy Falejczyk of Manhattan, signed his National Letter of Intent to attend the University of St. Francis where he will continue his football career on an athletic and academic scholarship.  Falejczyk is a graduate of Manhattan Junior High School and a parishioner at St. Mary Catholic Church (Mokena).  Falejczyk has been a member of the Celtic football and wrestling teams for his entire high school career. Furthermore, he was a member of the 2014 state championship football team.
 
Patrick Kowalkowski, son of Andrew and Joanie Kowalkowski of New Lenox, committed to continue his soccer career at Lewis University. Kowalkowski is a graduate of Noonan Academy and a parishioner at St. Jude Church (New Lenox).  He has been a varsity starter for the Celtic soccer team his entire high school career and named All-Sectional and All-Conference his senior year.  Kowalkowski was also a kicker for the varsity football team for the last two seasons, scoring 18/18 extra points and named All-Conference.  Furthermore, he was a member of the 2014 state championship football team.
 
Michael Markasovic, son of Frank and Kim Markasovic of Frankfort, signed his National Letter of Intent to attend Saint Xavier University where he will continue his football career on an athletic and academic scholarship.  Markasovic is a graduate of St. Mary School and a parishioner at its church.  The honor roll student has been a member of the Celtic football and Lacrosse teams for his entire high school career.  Furthermore, he was Co-Captain of the football team (2015) and a member of the 2014 state championship football team and named All-Conference CCL Blue.
 
Brendan O'Hara, son of Brendan and Nancy O'Hara of New Lenox, committed to continue his football career at the University of Pennsylvania. O'Hara is a graduate of Liberty Junior High School and a parishioner at St. Jude Church (New Lenox).  The honor roll student and Illinois State Scholar is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council and the Augustinian Youth Ministry.  He was Class President his junior year, a Student Ambassador, Kairos/Retreat Leader and recipient of the several academic awards.  The three-sport athlete has been a member of the football, baseball and track and field teams during his high school career.  He was a member of the football (2014) and baseball (2015) state championship teams.  In 2015, O'Hara was named team Co-Captain for the football team, CCL Blue Defensive Player of the Year and All-State 1st Team.  Furthermore, he was named All-State Academic Team (2014, 2015), All-Conference CCL Blue (2014, 2015) and All-State Honorable Mention (2014) for football.
 
Thomas Younker, son of Brian and Pamela Younker of Tinley Park, signed his National Letter of Intent to attend Bemidji State University where he will continue his football career on an athletic and academic scholarship.  Younker is a graduate of St. George School and a parishioner at its church.  The honor roll student has been a member of the Habitat for Humanity for the past three years.  The three-sport athlete has been a member of the football, wrestling and track and field teams during his high school career.  Younker was a member of the 2014 state championship football team and a 23-game varsity starter.  Furthermore, he was a two-year varsity wrestling Captain.
