December 2015

"Be not afraid; for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all the people; for there is born to you this day in the city of David; a Savior, who is Christ the Lord."

Thank you to everyone for the generosity you showed with your donations for the food pantry and providing gently used jackets.

We have another opportunity to help local families! Catholic Charities has given us the names of several families in need of everyday items and clothing. If you would like to help, a giving tree will be outside with tags on it.  Please consider taking a tag(s) and return with the gift(s) unwrapped by Wednesday, December 16.

Thank you for your generosity and God bless you and your family this Holiday season.

Merry Christmas!

Kindergarten Kapers

This month the children will be getting ready for Jesus' birth.  We will learn that Advent is a time of waiting and there are a lot of fun things they can do while they wait for Christmas.  In reading, we are moving right along and we will finish up the letters of the alphabet and continue practicing sight words.  We are excited to start focusing on short vowels after Christmas.  In math, we will be comparing, writing and showing numbers 1-12.  As well as using ordinal numbers first through tenth.

PreKindergarten Press

In November we finished our five senses and talked about Thanksgiving.  Now on to Advent and waiting for the birth of Jesus.  We will practice songs for our Christmas program on Sunday, December 6 at 11:00am.  We will also work on the letters C, N and I and the numbers 7 and 8.  Our Show 'N Tell will be on Friday, December 11.  Our theme will be "Something That Shows How We Prepare For Christmas."  A Blessed Christmas to all!
Preschool Pitter Patter

In November, we learned about the first Thanksgiving, Pilgrims and Native Americans. We also discussed stars, triangles and the color yellow. We completed our study of the five senses by discussing taste and hearing. We are very busy getting ready for the Christmas program on Sunday, December 6 at 11:00 am. The children seem to enjoy their songs.  Let's hope the enthusiasm will continue when they are on stage! In December we will discuss Advent and waiting for Jesus' birth. Our December Show 'N Tell will be on Tuesday, December 8 and Wednesday, December 9. The theme is "Something That Helps Us Prepare For Jesus' Birthday." We will also read "Gingerbread Baby" and maybe find him around school! Have a great month and a Happy Holiday Season!

Little Learners Lowdown

Happy Holidays! The Little Learners are going to be engaged in a variety of fun activities during the month of December.  They will be celebrating the Christmas season and learning about Jesus' birthday. The children will be making ornaments, Christmas cards, reindeer food, bell necklaces and exploring "silky snow". The weather is also changing and the children are coming to school wearing hats, gloves and scarves. This is a perfect opportunity to practice our self-help skills upon arrival and departure. It's so wonderful to see those big smiles when they can finally put their own coat on!  Have a safe and blessed holiday season!
