March 2015
Principal's Corner

Our Cookie Dough Fundraiser begins March 3.  All proceeds go to purchasing new equipment for the school. Every little bit helps.

If you know of any parents new to the area that may be looking for a quality preschool and kindergarten, we would appreciate you passing on the information about PCCA.  Many people are still surprised to hear that Providence Catholic High School has a Children's Academy on campus and that we have been in existence for 23 years as well as a Joliet Diocesan elementary school.  There are many parents out there looking for a quality early education programs with half and full day options as well as before/after care.

Please share PCCA on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites.

Thank you for your help!

Kindergarten Kapers

The Lord has blessed us with a beautiful winter.  If March comes in like a lion, let's hope it goes out like a lamb!  The children enjoyed toy week and game board week.  They learned many new words and are reading with better fluency.  During Math they tallied and recorded their data and learned about fractions.  This month we look forward to St. Patrick's Day, Dr. Seuss Day, and learning about Dinosaurs. We will also learn about Jesus' passion and how Lent means New Life.

Prekindergarten Press

Let's March to Spring!  Our religion units will be families, air, helping and opposites.  We will discuss St. Patrick, Easter and spring.  We will also practice our phone numbers.  We will continue with the letters Q,V,U and numerals 13 and 14.  We are thankful for the new life that Spring brings to us!

Preschool Pitter Patter

It's hard to believe that it is March already!  We enjoyed wearing red and celebrating Valentine's Day with our classmates in February.  We appreciated our special families and friends.  We learned about day and night, fish and rectangles.

This month we will talk about Air, St. Patrick's Day, Spring and Easter.  We will celebrate St. Patrick's Day on Friday, March 13 and Tuesday, March 17.  Easter will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 31 and Wednesday, April 1. Please do not send treats on those days. We will not have Show 'N Tell this month.  We will wait for spring to be really in bloom.  Show 'N Tell will be on Thursday, April 16 and Friday, April 17. Our theme is "A Sign of Spring."

Little Learners Lowdown

Shamrocks, rainbows and lots of sparkle will be the themes for the month of March. We will celebrate St. Patrick's Day with lots of things green and reviewing all of our colors through rainbows. We will flip "green eggs and ham", practice writing in green glue, make spiced shamrocks and freely create a masterpiece with crayons. We'll end the month with a roar with a week of dinosaurs. We'll dig for fossils, discuss dinosaur manners, rhyming words and opposites through our stories for the week. The week will end with a short dinosaur movie.
