October ended with a bang with sales breaking the 2.8 Million mark, up over 36% for the month compared to last October. Congratulations to all of our sales executives for making this another record October. Now that the "November" elections are over, we can all turn back on our TV without the fear of seeing another Political Ad. On a much more important "Local Level", your votes were tallied and we are proud to announce the winners of our Halloween costume contest.
The winners are:
Tied for 3rd Place:
Ryan Becht (Account Executive) as Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber - He received $75.00 Lloyd IOU's in his bank account!

Blake Frye (Warehouse Specialist) - AKA Bob Ross - He also received $75.00.
2nd Place:
Jenny Tucker (Our Billing Specialist) - Jenny came as the Mad Hatter which earned her $150.00.
And Finally, our Grand Prize Winner:
Ashton Sutter (Accounting Manager) - Ashton did an award winning rendition of "Mrs. Doubtfire" that earned her top prize of $250.00 as well as bragging rights and our traveling "Best Costume Trophy".
All of our employees showed great creative and acting abilities, we appreciate your participation as well. We thought we would share the video once again for your entertainment.

Bill Leonard sent us a great order for Leeds #5700 Ivue Bags. He reports that these bags are used by his client, a leading ophthalmic Imaging device manufacturer known worldwide for its ocular disease diagnostic tools. These quality Leeds bags with logo domes are included as part of a "new buyers" kit. The bag holds all literature, user manuals and smaller items that are sent out with a new unit purchased by ophthalmologists and hospitals. Since they are part of their "production" process, these bags are reordered periodically. His client has received many great comments from their customers who love the bags. Bill picked up this client a few years ago as a result of a "drop-by cold call". Nice Call and great order Bill! Thanks for sharing. Order value $7700.00, reorder value.....priceless.... Steve Sheeks landed a very nice order for 15,000 Bic Sticky Note Pads worth over $5800.00. His client is a leader in the contract wall covering and interior product industry. They supply commercial wall systems. The note pads are used as a branding initiative complete with alternating logos in the upper left corner and another in the lower right. Steve used his creativity to make his client's get the most bang for their marketing dollars. Tony Hernandez sent in a very nice reorder for "Show Tags" from Reflectix and Wristbands from Wristband Specialties, totaling over $10,000.00. His client is a company that specializes in creating competition events for Dance and Cheerleading competitions around the country. The show tags are used to distinguish the competitors among the different "classes of competition" going on during an event. The wristbands are to control the crowds and determine who has been admitted. Any time you can incorporate a product into the "sales process" or production process for a client, you have "automatic" reorders for as long as that product continue to serve its purpose, with little if any price competition. Way to think outside of the Box, Tony!

Polyconcept Acquires Humphrey Line- personal letter from Mel Ellis.
If you haven't heard it through the grapevine, HumphreyLine was sold on today to Polyconcept North America, the parent of Leed's, Bullet Line, Journalbooks, and Trimark. Together they are the largest supplier in the promotional products industry, with over 1500 employees and $400 million in sales. Bitsy and I have owned and operated this business for the past 23 years, and we concluded that for Humphrey to prosper in the years ahead, and realize its potential, it needs new leadership, fresh energy, and an organization behind it that has the human, financial, and technology resources required for growth in today's marketplace. We take it as a real compliment that PCNA, which is 50 times our size, had sufficient interest that they made a successful offer to buy the business. They know us well, and are anxious to have a domestic manufacturing presence; they also see value in our leading position in the personal care amenities segment of the market, along with our plastics line-up and oral care business. PCNA has 19 sales reps in the United States, and another 12 in Canada, and they have just announced their new web capability that is tailored to the workstyle of the millenials. No one else in our business, to my knowledge, has anything approaching this functionality, and I expect PCNA may disrupt the traditional economic chain in our unique industry. Looking ahead, Bitsy and I will continue to work for PCNA until the Portland office closes. After that, I will continue as a "Senior Advisor," with the main focus being to make sure that the transition to PCNA goes smoothly. I expect to be involved in sales training, customer service training, website content development, and trade show participation. I will be at the Orlando, Las Vegas, and Dallas ASI shows at least, and probably several others. Coming to the decision to sell HumphreyLine was the most difficult experience I have had in my 45 years in business, and I will miss the people in this industry more than I can express. We are blessed to have so many creative, energetic, and community-spirited people throughout this industry; I don't think there is any other business that compares to ours, and it has been great fun to be part of it these past many years. Some of the things that Bitsy and I feel are important accomplishments at Humphrey include: keeping our manufacturing here in the US, and providing good family wage jobs for our American workforce; shipping over 99% of our orders complete and on time for the past 20 years in a row, which we think is an industry record; helping to pioneer and develop the personal care amenities segment of the industry; and taking a leadership role in the Product Safety initiatives across the industry (after all, if you make it, you should know what is IN the product). In the end, as we have practiced it, this is a service and relationship business, and the key focus for us has always been to "serve the customer." We have done that to the best of our abilities, and we feel great about the many strong customer relationships we have developed over the years.
