Coach's Corner
by Fred Albrecht

Happy Flag Day! Yes it is a great time to wave our flag. In spite of what you hear in the news and what might or might not be happening in Washington, thanks to all of our veterans, we are FREE. Free to live our life the way we desire and free to earn as much as we can.

Let's talk earning power, your opportunity to earn money in this business has NEVER been greater. We have more marketing tools and programs available than any other distributor in the country. Even more important, we have the qualified people in our office and at Proforma World Wide Support Center to help you. Together with Proforma, we have over 150 employees behind you every time you walk out the door, in fact we have more employees than we do sales reps. Our industry is growing again, we positioned ourselves in the market place over the last 4 years to take full advantage of the market once the industry began to grow again. Industry sales are up just about 6%, we are on pace to break the 10% mark and we are just beginning!

So go out today, raise your flag, thank a veteran and find 5 new customers, they are out there waiting to see you today, waiting to buy. Remember, it is just as simple as finding the guy with the money in his pocket and convincing him to spend it with you.

Year to Date Sales Increase

Our goal is to help each and every sales rep achieve their dreams and goals. We know that sales either grow or they decline, it simply is not reasonable to simply expect sales to stay where they are forever. We are proud of our reps who have taken full advantage of everything we have to offer and can increase their business. Check out the list of people who have increased their business in 2013. Congratulations to those who are on track to grow in 2013.

Up Close & Personal
by Fred Albrecht

Many of our reps have asked me to include more "personal" stories in our Albrecht Advantage. So below is our first addition of our "Up Close and Personal" column. This week's feature is Kelly Fouche, our Hub Pen National Account Rep. Here she is showing off the award we gave Hub pen as one of our top 10 best Supplier for 2012. I asked here to write a little about herself so you could get to know her even better.

I am looking for candidates for this column, if you have a photo you would like to share of you and your family and any personal information you would like to share with the rest of our reps, please feel free to send it to me, I would love to feature all of our reps throughout the next 52 weeks.

Kelly Fouche, Hub Pen Company

A few fun facts about myself:

I am from Shelby, NC, but now live in Mooresville, NC. I went to Auburn University and have a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, Painting and Sculpture. I minored in Art History and Psychology. I love to paint in my spare time.

I also LOVE Animals. Specifically, dogs. I have 3 dogs, they are all rescued. Luke, an 11 year old Bulldog, Lilly, an 8 year old Bulldog and Lola, a 1 year old Mastiff Great Dane mix.

I once saved over 40 Farm Pigs that were left abandoned on a truck headed for the slaughter house. We put them on new trucks and took them safely to an Animal Sanctuary.

I also love gardening, cooking and photography.

I used to be an Elementary School Art Teacher.

I had an internship at the Air and Space Museum, in Photography.

I have been in this Industry for almost 14 years. 13 of those with Norwood BIC Graphic and my last year with Hub Pen Company.
My favorite part of this Industry is the people. We have the most wonderful people in the Promotional Products Industry and I love building relationships with everyone. I am honored and blessed to have a wonderful job, to love my job and to get to spend it with great people.

You have heard it before, and you will probably hear it again: the 'experts' say print is dying, and with the Digital Age not slowing down any time soon, printed items may one day be extinct.

While it is true computers, smartphones and every other piece of technology make our lives easier and save some trees along the way, it is inaccurate to say print is going to be irrelevant in the future. In fact, print serves as a great complement to technology. Barbara Pellow, Group Director at InfoTrends and former CMO of Kodak's Graphic Communications Group, seems to agree with this statement. In January, Pellow conducted a webcast introducing her 2013 Top 10 Trends for the Printing Industry.

In her Top 10, no less than five of them directly related to how technology is changing - and improving - the print industry. Web-to-Print, she predicted, will be very popular, allowing for more online, on-demand printing opportunities. Mailers will be personalized more than ever before, including PURLs linking to content customized for each recipient.

Pellow also said she thinks mobile marketing will be at all-time high, with mobile codes printed on packaging, brochures, etc. so they can be scanned by mobile devices. Social media will be integrated with direct mail campaigns, the goal being that the two together will generate a better response. And digital printing (another advantage of technology advancements) will be making it all possible, with projects being quicker, easier and more cost-effective to complete.

Without a doubt, Pellow is right: 2013 will be a year where print evolves, and technology will play a large role. Some may say print is on its way out, but after looking at Pellow's trends, it appears as though print is here to stay... and is only getting stronger as technology advances.

Pellow's complete list of Top 10 Trends for the Printing Industry this year can be read here.

Work With Intention
From: Tina Filipski, Promotional Consultant Today

Promotional Consultant Today has discussed the value of intentional time use--blocking out regular time each week dedicated to strategically important tasks. We call this Performance Time. It's an easy-to-use system that allows you to operate like the CEO of your business and life by spending your most valuable asset--your time--with intention. It utilizes a simple time-blocking system to regain control of your day and maximize your effectiveness.

There are three primary components of Performance Time: strategic blocks, buffer blocks and breakout blocks.

Strategic Block: A Strategic Block is a three-hour block of uninterrupted time that is scheduled in advance. During these blocks you accept no phone calls, no faxes, no e-mails, no visitors--no mental interruptions. You focus all your energies on the preplanned items--the strategic and money-making activities. Doing so concentrates your intellect and creativity, and produces breakthrough results. You will be astounded by the quantity and quality of the work you produce. For most people, one strategic block per week is sufficient.

Buffer Block: Buffer Blocks are created to deal with all of the unplanned and low-value activities--like
most email and voicemail--that arise throughout a typical day. Almost nothing is more unproductive and
frustrating than dealing with constant interruptions, yet we've all had days when unplanned items dominated our time. A Buffer Block allows you to take what would otherwise be inefficient activity and make it more productive by grouping it together. In this way you can handle each item expeditiously and move through the list with some momentum. This allows you to stay focused throughout the day on the important activities. The power of buffer blocks comes from grouping together activities that tend to be unproductive so that you can increase your efficiency in dealing with them and take greater control over the rest of your day.

Break-out Block: One of the key factors contributing to performance plateaus is the absence of free time. So often, entrepreneurs and professionals get caught up in working longer and harder. This approach is an
energy and enthusiasm killer. To achieve greater results, you don't need more hours; you need more free time. A Break-out Block is a minimum three-hour block of scheduled time that is devoid of any work-related activities and thoughts. It is time set aside to rejuvenate and replenish. Use this time for fun. Enjoy the hobbies in your life. Spend time with family and friends. Play golf. Go shopping. Get some exercise. You need this time to rebuild your reserves and to open yourself up to fresh ideas and perspectives.

The key to successful time use is not necessarily in eliminating unplanned interruptions but in regularly blocking out time for the important activities. Just gaining control over a few hours each week often has a dramatic effect. Learn to use your time with greater intention and you will not only be more effective, but you will also feel a greater sense of control, less stress, and increased confidence. Try Time Blocking, it works!
