Think Outside of the Left Chest

In 2011, the North American apparel market grew by 4%, with total dollar sales reaching $199 billion. (NPD Group, Inc.) Apparel has always been a status symbol for many North Americans and that's not going away anytime soon.  Take advantage of this trend by using apparel as one of your promotions!

It's important to keep your logo out there, in front of your customers and prospects.  Don't let your image get stale- keep it fresh and original, just like you!  Consider the following when you are thinking about your next logo'd apparel purchase.

1.    Polo Shirts are a classy give away.  Instead of printing your logo on the upper left chest like usual, why not print it on the right chest?  Changing your imprint location just slightly will grab the eye of your audience.  Something won't look "right" and they will make every effort to figure out what it is.  Simple as that! You don't have to change your logo, your colors, your brand, your product line.  Just think outside of the norm and you'll catch the attention of many!

2.    Planning on printing some hooded sweatshirts for your employees? Don't print on the chest. Don't think about printing on the back.  (We're still thinking creatively, right?)  Why not print on the front pocket? Better yet- print your message on the hood! Print it upside down for some added WOW when the owner pulls the hood up.

3.    T-shirts. They're a dime a dozen yet it seems we all collect them whenever we get a chance! Be the FAVORITE t-shirt and make it a little different! You could print your message or logo on the bottom of the back or perhaps you put it on the left or right rib cage. These are all possible solutions but will add to the value of your brand ten-fold.

4.    Tone-on-tone: a Do or a Don't? Absolutely! Think about a golf shirt.  Tone-on-tone gives it a much more sophisticated feel, the owner is likely to wear it more frequently than if it has a huge logo stamped on it somewhere, but you can still rest assured that you ARE branding yourself!

These tips and tricks can be applied to almost anything you choose to put your logo on.  The point is to make sure you still stand out and grab your audience's attention.  Be original with your promotions to ensure you have a lasting impact.  If you insist on sticking with the norm, that's okay, but do something different.  Stick that t-shirt into a drawstring bag or wrap it up with a sweatband.  Creating a stir about your brand is all about being UNIQUE.

David Kolko Teams Up with the Support Center to Penetrate an Account and Add $100,000 in Annual Sales

David Kolko, Owner of Proforma IF Print Services in Rochester, NY, has had a long-standing relationship with Conifer, a full service real estate company specializing in the development and management of high-quality, affordable housing communities. David had been providing Conifer with promotional products through an eCommerce solution and saw an opportunity for future growth. Adding print to his offering would be a natural extension of his existing relationship and a cost-effective solution for his client.

David teamed up with Dan Whitehead, Business Coach to Owners selling more than $1 million per year, to strategize how to penetrate this account. David and Dan pulled the Support Center's North American Major Accounts and eCommerce Teams together to begin developing a sales plan
and implementation process that would demonstrate Proforma's capabilities and the natural fit to include print into their existing eCommerce store. The plan would allow David's client to easily provide images and product specifications of the printed products, similar to what is currently offered on their site. PLP, Web Graphics, also provided exceptional product and pricing support that included digitally printed on-demand products.

These efforts resulted in a profitable gain of more than $100,000 annually and Conifer is happier than ever with David's products and services. The process has allowed David to reaffirm his relationship with Conifer and established a long-term solution that both the client and David will profit from for years to come.

Patrick McGuffey Uses New Decorating Technique to Give His Client a Fresh Look

Trimark Powered by Leed's rolled out an incredible ProExclusive during Proforma's Regional Meetings that allowed Owners located in the United States the opportunity to sell their fresh new apparel line before their national rollout. This innovative line features high quality and creative apparel decorating techniques never before seen in the industry.

Co-Owner Patrick McGuffey, of East Texas Business Printing - Powered by Proforma in Tyler, TX, took this opportunity and ran straight to the bank - which just so happened to be his client. Knowing that Trimark offers an innovative decorating method called True Edge Transfer, Patrick thought this would be the
perfect fit for this bank's extremely intricate logo. For the first time in decorating history, Trimark has mastered the process of applying a logo to apparel with the same quality as print, all the way through from edge-to-edge. For years, embroidery did not do the client's logo justice, and when Patrick showed them the new technology he could offer, they were stunned!

East Texas Business Printing - Powered by Proforma was able to really impress their client and penetrate the account. Now that Patrick has uncovered the opportunities True Edge Transfer now offers, he is excited and eager to start converting new and existing clients over to this industry-first decorating method.
