Congratulations to our student leaders voted into office this past week! I look forward to being part of their success next year as they take fresh ideas and build new programs for our students.

I would like to give a special thank you to our outgoing student leaders for a successful year, one filled with many wonderful memories and accomplishments. Our Senate leaders, class leaders, team captains, choir leaders, activity leaders, stage mangers, admission student leaders, and the Scholar Society academic leaders deserve a grand applause for their outstanding work achieved this year.

I would also like to thank the Parents' Association Co-Chairs Roslyn Pedlar and Victor Bellemare for their outstanding leadership of the Parents' Association. It has been a pleasure for me to work with such fine leaders who have committed countless hours each day to help assure that our students have well supported programs and activities. The work of the parent leaders on each committee resulted in great events and programs for our children. Thank you!

Lower School NewsLS
Dear Lower School Families,

I hope you all are enjoying today as much as I am! I am taking the day off to work in the Lower School Garden while Jur and Tije van Dam are the Co-Heads of Lower School.

These two gentlemen have been well received by the students and Lower School faculty. Of course offering a no homework day for the students and a jeans day for the teachers certainly did not hurt their popularity! A highlight for me was when Mssrs. van Dam requested "Brimmer Garden Dirt" for our special dessert!!

Please make sure you attend the All-School Celebration of the Arts this coming Thursday, May 26, starting at 3:10 p.m. You will be amazed at the artwork created by students in Pre-K through grade 12.

Jared Heller '19 Shatters Brimmer Boys' Lacrosse Records

Freshman Jared Heller '19 shattered the Boys' Lacrosse records for goals in a season with 35 goals and tied the record for points in a season with 42. During the 2016 campaign, in eleven games, he delivered hat tricks (3 goals) in nine of the games and netted 5 goals in three of the games.  He has played Varsity Lacrosse at Brimmer since 7th grade.

One of his coaches in 7th grade (along with Pete Slaski), Runeko
Lovell, Brimmer alum and former Director of Diversity, previously held the lacrosse record for 10 games at 23 goals.
Swimmer Liam Conklin

Liam Conklin started swim lessons when he was very young. At six years old, he joined the Newton town team. At eight years old, he joined his first club team. Liam enjoys the thrill of the race and the challenge of beating his own time. He finds support from teammates and friends as well as support from other teams.

Liam dedicates 20 hours a week (on average) to swimming. In addition to swimming in the pool, Liam and his team complete strength and conditioning training.  Liam has helped his team win age-group championships as well as relays. His favorite stoke is freestyle.

Liam's sister has been a large influence on his success. "I grew up watching my sister swim, and I thought it was something that looked like a lot of fun," he says. "One of my favorite memories involving swimming was at Amherst College. My sister was in her freshman year and won the NESCAC championships against Williams College. Williams has almost always won, so it was inspiring to watch her help her team win the championship for the first time."

Liam has competed in Florida and New York for championship meets. He finds inspiration from his coach, Alex Cronin. "He has been very helpful in making me better and improving my weaknesses. My coach motivates me to do the best that I can. He is a very big part of my life." As for future swimming endeavors, Liam plans on swimming competitively in college, and eventually he is hoping to make it all the way to the Olympic Team Trials.
