I hope you are following Brimmer and May on the social media sites (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter), so you can see pictures, videos, and short messages about the learning experiences our students are having in grades Pre-K-12. If you have not joined, please consider doing so. I think you will enjoy it. For me, it is like stepping into a ray of the sunshine; it brightens my day.
I wish all of you a wonderful spring break with your children, and I look forward to seeing you in two weeks. Thank you for your patience and good spirits while we endured a very difficult eight weeks of continuous cold and heavy snow.
Sincerely,
Judy Guild

News from Lower School
Dear Lower School Families,
Tiny Thumbelina was certainly a great way to finish the winter term and head into spring vacation! It is always amazing to watch the results of hard work coming together as the fourth and fifth grade students present their musical. This year the snow days added another element to the preparation that went into this performance!
Ms. McGillicuddy and I want to wish you all the best as we head off for the break, and we truly hope that it will be spring, not just in name, when we return. Whether the snow is gone from the playground is another question!
Best wishes,
Thomas Fuller Courtney P. McGillicuddy

From the Middle School
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I am happy to report that both Exploration Week and the Washington, D.C. trip are in full action and everything has been going well! The students on Exploration week have had an exciting time thus far exploring Boston on their Scavenger Hunt, executing coding with Mr. Bock, and experiencing indoor Rock Climbing as part of their Outdoor (though it was indoor) Education. Meanwhile, the 7th graders have been busy with visiting the D.C. monuments, Smithsonian Exhibit halls, having a Capital tour, re-enacting parts of and learning all about Gettysburg, and eating like Kings and Queens!
Click here to read the Washington, D.C. blog.
Just a reminder that the 6th and 8th grade end their day today at 2:30 p.m. There is NO AP today.
Wishing all of you a restful, peaceful, re-energizing, and SNOW-FREE spring break!
Peter Gordon

College Counseling
Class of 2016
All juniors must register to take at least one SAT and/or ACT exam this spring. Please refer to the Brimmer and May College Guide for test dates and registration deadlines. Guidelines to qualify for fee waivers for these tests can also be found in the College Guide.
The College Guide can be found on the Brimmer and May website in addition to the hard copies that were distributed at
Junior College Night.
Most juniors now have a working college list, and they are expected to visit at least one college or university during Break. They will report on their visit(s) during College Counseling class in the week following Break. While some students have planned college trips to other states, other students will be visiting colleges in Boston. This is an important step in the college process as it helps students begin to identify the things that constitute a good match for them.
In April, we will also begin work on the college essay; a 2-hour essay workshop presented by a college admissions dean is scheduled. More information to follow.
On Sunday, March 26th, the annual BISCCA College Fair will be held at Milton Academy from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. College representatives from around the country and the UK as well as Gap Year programs will be represented. By design we do not invite colleges from the New England states as space is limited, and it easier for our families to travel to those institutions on their own. Three Breakout Sessions are also scheduled during the Fair as follows:
Athletic Recruiting
Art Portfolios and Dance, Music and Theatre Auditions
College Financing
A list of participating colleges and gap programs will be emailed home and posted on the Brimmer and May website. This is a required event for juniors and a valuable program for parents as well.

Director of College Counseling
